This sort of racial damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don’t story appears every year during Black History Month: A student at New York University was aghast that a dining hall had planned to serve barbecue ribs, corn bread, collard greens, Kool-Aid, and — uh oh — watermelon-flavored water in honor of the celebration.
According to The New York Times, sophomore Nia Harris, who’s black, “sought an explanation” about the menu from the head cook of Weinstein Passport Dining Hall.
In an email to NYU officials (a copy of which was also posted to Facebook), Harris alleges the cook “dismissed” her concerns, saying the Kool-Aid was fruit punch (which Harris contests, but isn’t fruit punch one of Kool-Aid’s many flavors?) and that the dining hall always serves fruit-flavored water (but not watermelon, Harris claims).

There’s a really nice black guy named Harold who has a fantastic rib stand at the local car wash. He makes the best ribs ever and sells a ton of them to customers waiting for their cars.
I better tell Harold he is perpetuating a horrible racial stereotype. I’m going to miss his ribs.
The Illinois governor drinking chocolate milk was the best. But a black diversity executive told him it would show he wasn’t racist. You can’t make this stuff up.
LOL! They used to have soul food day every Thursday at the chow hall when I worked for the Army in Germany! People were lining up! How is that racist? geez!
Revolting. As someone with a close relative that worked in school cafeterias to kids through college, I cannot imagine the depraved mind that would be happy she got two of them fired. These are people working like galley slaves for low wages and some damned college student did this...to them?
I hope something really bad happens to this evil student to cut them down to size.

This is funny on so many levels that I just burst out laughing when I read it on my phone in a room full of liberals moaning in the background of my attention about Trump and guns and when they all stopped and looked at me I thought to myself I could try to explain but they LITERALLY would not understand. I just waved a never-kind and they resumed their mutual moan-fest without me.
Clearly, they wanted pate de foie gras, and coq au vin.
Read the article and it didn’t say, but what would that offended kid put on the menu if they left it up the him?
I love how they want to defer to some committee to decide next year’s meal. I bet they’d come up with some fancy-yet-flavorless Sidwell-Friends-type fru-fru lunch with plenty of arugula in it to honor the Obamas.
Nothing wrong with that menu, although I might prefer an RC Cola for a beverage. I hate these fools that bitch about everything - my Mom used to say, “He’d complain about being hanged with a new rope”.
