Anarchy Is Swallowing Up the Social Order

Government in the name of order, control, efficiency, organization, the greatest good for the greatest number, solidarity, social justice, and safety is instead ruling over a society that is increasingly disordered, crime-ridden, unjust, and disturbed to an extreme. A word that describes the direction of our acceleration through space and time is anarchy.

The momentum toward anarchy began with the move toward federal government expansion. During Woodrow Wilson's presidency, we began to see the implementation of what is now called the administrative state. This was helped along by our participation in WWI, which created the need for more governmental controls. This was followed by the massive Keynesian demand-side economics implemented by Franklin D. Roosevelt, the New Deal, and WWII.

Regulation grows by supposedly "meeting a need," but meeting a need leads from that point into greater regimentation. Greater regimentation means a suppression of individual freedom. This suppression produces a reaction that is anarchy. Therefore, we must be careful whenever we expand government with the premise that we are "meeting a need."

For example, more students are getting a college education, but the burdens are also increasing as ever greater numbers depend on student loans to get a college education (students often work, but working one's way through college has become less and less feasible). This in turn has given rise to a demand for free higher education. That demand is growing, as we see from Bernie Sanders's successes in the last election cycle, and Andrew Cuomo was able to push through a free tuition plan for public colleges in New York State. This free tuition is anything but a support for freedom, for indeed, it requires that students take a certain minimum number of credits and that they be full-time.

A government that tries to do everything ends up not doing anything very well. And the ancillary costs are killers. Government employees in line agencies -- schoolteachers, police officers, the good folks in the park department, the foresters, the water and sewer guys, etc. ad nauseam -- can burrow into their niches and do a good job. They often do. But strategic direction and accountability have to come from above, and as one moves up the chain, one rapidly gets to a level at which the relevant authorities are simply overwhelmed by the myriad activities and agencies for which they are nominally responsible. Political direction becomes paralyzed and often incoherent because no one at that level can possibly have sufficient expertise across so many fields, and because no one has enough time to focus on 1001 different things each day. So effective control is ceded downwards, and agencies become self-regulating and largely autonomous while their nominal political masters become preoccupied with political theatrics. Accountability is lost. And the ability of ordinary citizens to have effective input on decisions important to them is lost.

The answer, of course, is subsidiarity. This starts with minimizing the role of government at the outset and allowing free markets and free civil society to function as autonomously as possible. When government must become involved, always prefer that functions be managed by the lowest level of government possible. Liberals demand centralization precisely because it is their way of avoiding effective accountability. They wish to impose policies against the will of the majority of their subjects. They prefer indirect to direct funding and hidden subsidies to blur the cost-benefit equation. And since a lot of their policies are counterproductive, they demand centralization and uniformity to prevent people from voting with their feet.

Just hand in your guns, and society will protect you.

1. Fail to enforce existing laws.

2. Demand more power and more laws.

3. Repeat 1.

The modern secular “liberal” isn’t liberal any more than the people’s republic of whatever is about the people. In both cases it’s really about the domination of Men Behind the Curtain.

And Remington Arms is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Very poor management and too much palling with the Fed Gov contracts as a solution to eliminating retail market. (gun control)

Exactly correct. That is why the very idea of Globalist solutions are such a horror. No sane person can defend them, but they believe they can do it by leveraging technology. Outcome? Global failure, slide into total Despotism.

Yup.

And let's put law abiding American citizens in prison for 10 years, for "possessing" a magazine over 10 rounds.

Sure, let's ruin their lives and take away people's freedom because they "possess" a piece of plastic or stamped sheet metal with a spring in it.

I do not think it logical that they would try to confiscate guns legally purchased prior to the change...or would they? What about old family guns handed down to children/grandchildren from say WWII etc? Are they illegal guns?

The point of being a liberal is to not have to follow rules.

Anarchy is the extrapolation of that concept.

You’re welcome.

I learned more about government from that video that I ever learned in school.
