Aren’t the days gone when you could simply festoon a package with stamps and drop her in the ole’ post bin..?

I think senders need to be SEEN now, right..?

No. Long as you put more than enough stamps on it it’s legal tender so to speak.

You can’t drop a package in a mailbox or even a UPS box without documentation.

One of our SILs wanted a copy of our church’s cookbook. So my put one in a bubble envelop.

We UPSed it at an Office Depot UPS station. We had to complete a form re what was in the package. Another SIL wanted a copy, so my wife put it in an unsealed envelope and took it to another UPS station. She still had to fill in some documentation, and they sealed the envelope.
