Even though it makes some sense I’m amazed this was permitted. There are so many liabilities and contingencies to consider given this is supposed to be a warship and war ready.

Hook one of those trucks up to the catapult and watch it take off.

I understand that. The considerations / questions still apply.

Similarly, our rare US Navy jeep was stolen from out parking lot at Subic Bay and carried to Vietnam.

It would be funny if that’s how they off loaded them. It’s in the fine print.

Using a cat-launch to off-load those civilian vehicles will be fun to watch.

The waters off the West Coast aren't exactly a global trouble spot. I assume that they loaded the Ronald Reagan with all kinds of cargo heading from Bremerton to San Diego.

You could put all sorts of repair parts and equipment aboard her and save a significant chunk of change in transportation costs.

That flight deck is over 6-7 stories high. How do they get these cars up / down from there???

I know the San Diego naval base fairly well and have not seen anything that would allow a car to be driven up there. Do they "lift" them all? - that would take a long time and a lot of fuss.

When did our carriers start carrying cars on them instead of planes was the point if it missed you. Which points usually do.

LOL. That’s what I thought as well. My next thought was, man, white is a popular color choice for vehicles.
