It would be interesting if some investigative reporter looked into Douglas Brinkley. I’m betting he is hiding something really bad and now is in panic mode, something that ties him to Andy M. or other FBI antiTrumpers.

The simple answer was that McCabe was already the target of an investigation before the crap hit the fan with the release of the Nunes memo. I’m sure everyone knew McCabe was going to be fired. That’s why Trump posted the Twitter message a while back about McCabe “running out the clock” to collect his pension.

I was at a conference in 1999, I think it was, when he was the after-dinner speaker. I made the mistake of sitting at a table that was too far away from the doors to make a graceful exit.
