President Trump signed the Taylor Force Act on Friday, which was attached to the omnibus spending bill and passed into law along with the rest of the legislation.
Trump has been excoriated by conservatives for signing the omnibus, a bloated package that gave Democrats almost everything they wanted except amnesty for illegal aliens. But the passage of the Taylor Force Act is a milestone in foreign policy..
The Taylor Force Act will end U.S. aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) as long as it pays stipends to Palestinian terrorists either those in Israeli prisons, or the families of those who are deceased.
Named for a U.S. Army veteran who was stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist while he was visiting Israel in 2016, the law was championed by Republicans. Democrats, worried about protecting the PAs $300 million in annual U.S. aid, were slow to warm to the legislation. It passed the House, but struggled in the Senate.
Theoretically, the bill could have and, arguably, should have passed on its own. But the bills sponsors decided to overcome Democratic opposition by adding it to the omnibus bill, which Senate Democrats were keen to pass.
Though the Trump administration had repeatedly asked the PA to stop the payments to terrorists, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas made it clear he had no intention of doing so. Unless he changes his stance, the Taylor Force Act will force drastic cuts to the PA for all but humanitarian aid.
For the first time, the PA will pay a direct price for supporting terror. Other countries may follow suit. And the U.S. will speak with greater moral clarity about the principle that terrorism is inexcusable.

Not possible. Trump caved and the world is ending. /s
Kind of makes you wonder what else was snuck into the bill. That is how the Democrats have always done it. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye...

Good!
I hate the omnibus act but this is why I cut Trump slack.
He will KAG and there are inevitable bumps on the road to that destination.
The Taylor Act will do a great deal for peace in the Middle East.
Another thread indicates that one of the items in the bill includes the ability to use military funds to build the wall.
Why does the USA act like welfare Daddy to the Palestinians who are a group of underachieving, anti-Semitic, terror prone people? Why ANY money goes to other countries is obscene. Every dollar out is one less dollar to an American. I guess that makes me mean and uncultured.
I agree the omnibus act is a symbol all that’s wrong with Washington.
But like Reagan, Trump has had to go along with things he doesn’t like for the good of the country.
Unlike his carping critics who accuse him either of being a Russian stooge or a sellout to conservatism.
He made a mistake but nothing that’s ultimately irreversible.
We are blessed to have him as our POTUS, indeed.
...Unless he changes his stance, the Taylor Force Act will force drastic cuts to the PA for all but humanitarian aid...
Just a symbolic measure. The Palestinians sill get truckloads of cash that President Zer0 gave the Iranians.
We’re cutting it off despite terror-loving Democrats’ efforts to keep aid to the PA alive.
The President knows the Art Of The Deal. You lose some and you win some.
Symbols matter a great deal.
This is where legislative riders help.
‘Act will force drastic cuts to the PA for all but humanitarian aid.”
I find this funny, since to give “humanitarian aid,” human beings have to be involved. The only “aid” I’d like to give the “palestineans” is a neutron bomb .
“Why does the USA act like welfare Daddy to the Palestinians who are a group of underachieving, anti-Semitic, terror prone people?”
You were far too kind in enumerating the palestineans faults. The words “subhuman $hit” would have sufficed.
Thanks MarvinStinson.
It is about time!!!
