There is a difference between the number of people owning guns and the number of guns owned. A person owning 5 guns does not mean they are available for 5 people. So, there is no way that the U.S. has 1 gun per person. I hope you understand this distinction because the Left is using it to confuse U.S. gun ownership with the estimated number of guns owned to drive up their case on murder rate.
I said simply that on average, we have a gun per person in America. Take the total number of firearms, and divide by the population, and you have about one for each person. Of course, most gun owners own 5 or 6, while many other people, especially minors and women, own none.
