Trump Has a Strong Message For Former SCOTUS Justice Who's Arguing For Repeal of Second Amendment

President Trump said the Second Amendment will never be repealed, despite a call for this by liberal activists and most recently, former United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.

“THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY. We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!” the president wrote on Twitter early Monday morning.

Stevens penned an op-ed in The New York Times arguing that the level of civic engagement by young people over this issue “is a clear sign to lawmakers to enact legislation prohibiting civilian ownership of semiautomatic weapons, increasing the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21 years old, and establishing more comprehensive background checks on all purchasers of firearms.”

Yeah, just repeal it. So easy a former scotus could do it. Right stevens? Uh, maybe someone should go back and review the process required. Or listen to a bunch of kids that know nothing (obviously) of history or the constitution.

He is 90+ and will likely die soon. So he wouldn’t have to live through the catastrophic results for Freedom that he so desires. Typical LIB loser.

Stevens is just doing what he can to get the republican base stirred up and ready to charge the polls in November.

He could be the deciding factor in keeping democrats out of the majority in either house.

What a great job he is doing!

What makes Stevens’ remarks not only ridiculous but also very selfish is that what would repealing 2A honestly do in terms of dealing with the criminal and tragic misuse of firearms? Basically nothing. Remember that the laws and apparatus were already in place to prevent something like last month’s tragedy in Florida and yet failed due to corruption and incompetency among school and law enforcement people.

At least we should admit that he is outlining the correct process. Not the “infringement” that Dems always do. If the libs ever DID get a Constitutional Convention together they might not like what happens next! And no, they aren’t going to get 3/4 of both the House and Senate to repeal the 2nd Amendment either.

Are the first 10 amendments, the Bill of Rights, considered more powerful than the rest of them because of what they are? Can they be repealed? The original union may not have been formed at all without them.

Just questions from a non-lawyer. Let's see who chimes in.

The right to bear arms is among the inalienable rights. The 2nd amendment didn’t grant that right and repealing it wouldn’t take it away.

Thirty eight states needed for repeal.I have trouble identifying even 11 that would vote to do so.Of course we could first amend the Constitution to read that the only thing required to amend it is a majority vote by the House and/or Senate.Once *that* amendment is passed then the 2nd Amendment would be repealed the next time the Rats controlled both Houses of Congress.

And then, once 38 states vote for repeal of a right which most of them recognize, we just have to get thru the ensuing civil war.

The BOR is a recognition of God given rights. Implicit is the government’s duty to protect those rights and their application in daily life.

They cannot create those rights and repeal of them would be meaningless.

And are at least half of Americans, those predisposed to minority supremacy and leftism too immature to have access to firearms “uninfringed” ???

I say a resounding YES

As long as you can have a single shot flintlock with a 1 bullet maximum, locked up in the town armory...

... The second amendment will not be repealed.

I don’t like the language. I’m not being a nitpicking jerk, they are the nitpicking jerks and they are the ones who look at this language as a weapon.

So we need to look at language.
