Trump slams California governor over immigration
The Hill ^ | 31 Mar 2018 | ALICIA COHN

President Trump on Saturday called out California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) over immigration policy, marking further escalation in the dispute between the Trump administration and the Golden State.

Brown signed "sanctuary state" legislation last October in a rebuke of Trump’s increased immigration restrictions. Trump has repeatedly blasted the state as hosting immigrants in the country illegally who commit crimes, a charge he repeated on Saturday.

“Governor Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown pardoned 5 criminal illegal aliens whose crimes include (1) Kidnapping and Robbery (2) Badly beating wife and threatening a crime with intent to terrorize (3) Dealing drugs,” he tweeted. “Is this really what the great people of California want?”

The Trump administration is suing California in a lawsuit filed earlier this month that aims to block the state's sanctuary laws. The Justice Department charges that the laws are designed to intentionally obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration law.

Brown has called the lawsuit a "political stunt" by the Trump administration.

“This is basically going to war against the state of California, the engine of the American economy. It’s not wise, it’s not right, and it will not stand,” Brown said earlier this month.

Trump's claims of specific immigrants pardoned by Brown appear to be based on information from Fox News, which he tagged in the tweet.

Brown granted pre-Easter pardons to five immigrants facing possible deportation on Friday, according to The Sacramento Bee. The governor's office said a majority of the immigrants, who had all been convinced of crimes, were responsible for drug-related or other nonviolent crimes.

But The Sacramento Bee reported that the five pardoned convicts included one convicted for spousal abuse; another for kidnapping, robbery and using a firearm; another for vehicle theft and two for possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Just because they were pardoned by the state for their crimes, Moonbeam can’t grant them a pardon for their illegal entry into the US. Round ‘em up and deport them anyway...

The governor let criminals go free rather than obey the federal law. I hope one of them shows him why he should not have done that.

There is an old saying that “As California goes, so goes the nation.” We can all see what has happened to California. We must stop it there, we can not allow the garbage from California to infiltrate all of The United States...

Be better if Trump just had Brown and Becerra arrested.

California is the engine of the American economy? I thought Iread that 20 percent of Californias economyis federal money for various illegal immigrant funding. Maybe jerry should refuse that money, on principle.

California is in open rebellion.

The Feds need to stop pussyfooting around the revolt.

Xavier Becerra already has black mark against him, after the server-swapping scam in D.C. (18 U.S.C. §1001)

I pay my president with my vote and I demand results. My boss does the same thing to me every business day.

Be better if Trump just had Brown and Becerra arrested.

President Trump should hold an “in your face” rally at the Five Points Amphitheater in south Orange County, ground zero of the anti-sanctuary state movement.

That would energize the Republican base in the area as he Dems have targeted several Congressional districts in the area for possible takeover.

It’s past time to take action. . .immediate action with troops on the border even the Canadian border and troops up and down California, bordering the rest of the states. Waiting for this “wall thing” is more than silly. One only needs to look at Europe. . .

Starve California by not buying anything from that state.

Several months ago I ordered new floor covering for my now remodeled garages. It is a great product, it snaps down and can be moved anytime I might want. I have been busy with other things so I placed the order in limbo, until yesterday.

I have decided not to buy the product because it’s made in that mostly trash state. Sure, I won’t get what I wanted and my single order will not have much of an impact, but I’ll save that $2,000 and spend it on something else. California will not ever see that $2,000 and that alone puts a smile on my face.

“As California goes, so goes the nation.”

Once that was a light hearted promise of what the country could be - now it's warning of what could happen if we don't fight back.

California land of missed opportunity.

Moonbeam is smoking too much pot again.

Real life:

Texas Booms (+3.9%) as California Flatlines (0.1%); Mining, Manufacturing Drive Growth

.

Perhaps the crazy Moonbeam can explain how a sickly 0.1 ℅ California GPD Growth can be an "engine of growth" for anybody.

Yes, the once-Golden-state used to represent good and forward thinking...

Now, Cali gives is nothing but very good awful examples of deplorable, open-borders anti-Americanism and reckless political score-settling at the expense of the state's citizens' well being.

Criminal. (Really.)
