Morning Joe Outrage over Sinclair Segment, but Obama Nostalgic for Era When Left Controlled Media
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Liberals never complained when the news was controlled by a handful of outlets all spouting the same left-wing line. To the contrary, just last week, Barack Obama waxed nostalgic over those good old days:

“It used to be in the United States that there were three television stations, basically everybody watched the same thing, everybody got their news from the same sources, so everybody more or less had a similar view of the world.”

But now that the liberal monopoly of the media has been broken, suddenly the left is outraged and appalled. Today’s opening segment of Morning Joe was one, long, melodramatic moan over the fact that Sinclair Broadcast Group had anchors across the country read a statement about false news.

Joe and Mika moan: “dangerous to our democracy,” “chilling,” “heartbreaking,” “Pravda-style.”

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.

I saw that live several days ago. I thought “why am I not watching this channel instead of the NBC affiliate for local news?”

Same goes for their outrage over Facebook’s advertising model. Then they went to commercial for another pharmaceutical product that consumers can’t even buy. But they should ask their doctor.

Local news media is gathered by young people who regurgitate their cable and broadcast bettors. Think independently? Have a knowledge of history, economics, religion? Nope.

You MIGHT have an occasional person in a local newsroom with a degree and/or experience in political science. But most of those are tainted by leftist ideology.

The truth of this was abundantly illustrated for me at a Tea Party event back in 2010 or 2011. We encountered a kid working as a “reporter” for the Miami CBS station. (Owned, by the way, by the network.)

This reporter knew NOTHING about how the Cuban government came to power or how the people are treated. A very nice Cuban lady told him...She was polite and kind, but we were stunned at the ignorance.

Shoot. I thought the thread was about Larry Sinclair. Obama would’ve REALLY hated that!

50 years ago in college if you couldn’t cut it in real science you went into psychology

If you couldn’t cut it there you went to education

And if that was to much you went to journalism. The easiest degree there was.

This is such a ridiculous non-issue. Sinclair represents 9% of US tv stations and did a brief editorial over its stations. The major mediascum editorialize constantly across the vast majority of outlets and fill their “news” with liberal spew.

They simply can’t stand it when they don’t control 100%. THEY are the chilling, Pravda-like entities!

They simply can’t stand it when they don’t control 100%.

For propaganda to work, they NEED 100%. They can't afford somebody mentioning that the Emperor really DOESN'T have any clothes on.

Anything ‘dangerous to democracy’ is good with me.

Democracy is two wolves and sheep decided what is for dinner.

Long live the Republic!
