MONTERREY (Reuters) - Mexican left-wing presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has an 18-point lead ahead of the July 1 election, according to a poll published on Monday that showed him with a growing advantage at the start of formal campaigning.
Lopez Obrador, who launched his campaign on Sunday, holds 38 percent of the vote, according to the poll by Parametria, published by Reuters on Monday ahead of wider distribution. That compared to 35 percent in its previous poll.
A Lopez Obrador victory could usher in a Mexican government less accommodating toward the United States, where President Donald Trump has stoked trade tensions with Mexico and aggressively moved to curb immigration.
Lopez Obrador has backed the North American Free Trade Agreement, but his plan to review newly issued oil contracts sparked worries he will deter foreign investment.

As you said they have large amounts of coastline, natural resources, friendly, prosperous and stable northern neighbors, a small, much more easily defensible southern border, agriculture, oil, tourism, great climate, friendly people and decent food, and in general, hard working people.
If they had enjoyed the last 100+ years with a decent government and not a retread of Spanish aristocracy, socialism, and corruption they would be far more advanced than they currently are.

want to end illegals crossing the border, put 10 million dollars in a trust for say 10 Mexican Army generals and subtract one hundred dollars for each person that crosses into the US After one year divide the money between the generals. they will seal the southern and northern borders of Mexico in about a week.

Yes, they have a wealth of natural resources and their people obviously work very hard.

The Spanish naming convention is paternal last name followed by maternal last name. I think they usually go by paternal last name.

Sadly, that is true. I am Catholic but I strongly oppose their support of illegals in this country and the encouragement of bringing new ones in.
While I understand being compassionate, I wish they would understand the damage they are doing to these home countries by giving these illegals the easy way out. Thus, allowing their corrupt countries to continue unabated causing more pain and misery for those who chose not to escape and may not have the numbers to fix the problems. That's not compassion at all.
