““Amazon? Oh no, don’t criticize them. Thats where I buy all my cheap crap!!”

That’s also where I buy some great stuff——I love Amazon.

>> USPS should not be giving subsidies to a company worth billions <<

USPS is giving a subsidy to you, to me and to EVERYBODY who uses them, not just to Amazon. That’s the real problem.

Good. These guys need to learn that they can’t purchase major media organs and turn them into partisan political weapons with impunity.

Democrats aren’t shy about doing it whenever they are in power (remember Lois Lerner?) This is the post-Alinsky age. There ARE NO RULES anymore.

We can regret and resent that, but it’s reality.

Amazon and Google and Facebook should all be broken up. They are effectively monopolies monopolizing political and cultural discourse.

Didn’t Trump brag during the primaries about how he doesn’t pay taxes?

Stupid strategy by Amazon.

“I have never spent a penny on amazon. I don’t support rabid liberals.”

Then where do you spend your money?

A large percentage of the companies that we deal with are run by rabid liberals. All of the tech companies are.

The USPS should not be giving subsidies to a company worth billions.

The USPS is not giving subsidies to Amazon. They make a lot of money off Amazon.

So then Sinclair Media will be the next target?

I guess I’d like to understand this argument. What exactly is it that Trump is accusing Amazon of? I understand he does not like that Amazon may be putting small shops out of business across the country, but what would be the legal monopoly type argument that applies? The USPS loses money every year (or so it used to be reported) but by Amazon using USPS, how is it taking advantage more than any other USPS patron? I thought there might be a sales tax angle to this, but that should not be a federal issue, just state issue. So what’s the deal here?

Exactly. You’re either with him or against him. No middle ground.

What exactly is it that Trump is accusing Amazon of?

From what I understand, he's accused Amazon of not collecting state sales tax on purchases. But it's been shown that Amazon collects state sales tax in every state that has one. He's accused the USPS of losing money on every package they deliver for Amazon. But the USPS and others have shown that the Post Office actually makes a lot of money off of Amazon, and have instituted Sunday deliveries in some areas because Amazon's business makes that profitable. He has claimed that Amazon has put a lot of brick-and-mortar stores out of business. But that same claim has been levied against Wal-Mart for years and while true to a certain extent is not any evidence of illegal activity. I really think it boils down to the fact that Bezos owns the Washington Post and Trump is trying to get back at him for that. Not one of the Presidents best moments if true.

Probably. Like I said, we did not start this war. But it is underway, there are no rules, and we MUST win.

I know someone who works for the post office. She tells me that Amazon has definitely resulted in an increase in both revenue and mail volume for the postal service.

BUT the increased revenue is not enough to keep pace with the increasing demands for labor to handle it. For example, she showed me a picture of a post office backroom that was stacked to the ceiling with cases of toilet paper. Large numbers of people now apparently order their toilet paper by the case from Amazon and have it delivered buy the postal service.

Nobody ever made provisions for the increased labor the postal service would need to start moving pallets of toilet paper.

I heard a reoprt yesterday that our Military is considering using the Amazon cloud exclusively.

Wow.
Not only is that incredibly stupid, but it's just asking for foreigners (H1B, anyone?) to jeopardize the info.

I honestly have never thought of ordering toilet paper from Amazon. I’ve ordered a lot of things, including a rocker/recliner chair - the savings on delivery on that alone probably paid for my Amazon Prime membership - but I could see where a lot of TP orders would be hard to keep up on.
