U.S. suspects listening devices in Washington
Spokesman Review ^ | April 3, 2018 | Frank Bajak

For the first time, the U.S. government has publicly acknowledged the existence in Washington of what appear to be rogue devices that foreign spies and criminals could be using to track individual cellphones and intercept calls and messages.

The use of what are known as cellphone-site simulators by foreign powers has long been a concern, but American intelligence and law enforcement agencies – which use such eavesdropping equipment themselves – have been silent on the issue until now.

In a March 26 letter to Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that last year it identified suspected unauthorized cell-site simulators in the nation’s capital. The agency said it had not determined the type of devices in use or who might have been operating them. Nor did it say how many it detected or where.

The NSA admitted to spying on senators. So admitting they’ve got listening devices is simply a confirmation. Suppose a senator is involved in some sick, twisted activities. Just the possibility of being monitored would bring them into line.

US Government upset to find they aren’t the only ones illegally snooping on Americans.

It’s not Keystone cops, it’s philosophy.

You may remember the debate over how secure an iphone was, where the FBI wanted to decrypt the san bernadino terrorist’s phone but couldn’t.

If you paid attention to that, you would’ve heard about how some in the world of security point out that putting a back door for the government to use ALSO risks allowing bad actors to have access, usually criminals for the purpose of credit card fraud or what not.

So the ultimate conclusion that more secure is actually better for everyone, overall, even if it means the government has difficulty when it needs it.

But most do not feel that way. They don’t want communication secured because they want to be able to monitor it. Even your bank transactions, which could be set to use better encryption methods, have been using weaker paradigms for years without change. So not only does the gov know all your comms, they know all your financial activity.

They think of this like they do with embassies. Yeah, those furners get to have spies in town, but we get to do the same thing, so it’s an even break. They are more interested in their own ability to gather intel, than security, in the context of privacy.

Personally, I feel the exact opposite. I’d rather have the security. To me, it’s just like having the second amendment - if you can generally trust the public with guns, you can trust them with encryption the government can’t hack.

"the Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that last year it identified suspected unauthorized cell-site simulators in the nation’s capital. Sorry, bringing it up and then admitting that they are largely clueless is definitely in Keystone territory.

If so the sub base would be a priority. It is stunning to realize how deliberately stupid our leaders act.

I am in Eastern Washington. I doubt the three I found are from foreign agents. It is the local agencies spying on petty crime. I will keep y’all updated as I have called in some big guns for help. ;^)

Yet—The Democrat members of Congress allowed UNFETTERED access to all of their computers by the AWAN brothers and there were NO BACKGROUND checks run on those IT guys, either.

Debbie Wasserman Schulz should be in prison for covering up for them for months.

I get more questions when I go to a new doctor than the AWAN brothers were ever asked before they could get classified information from the Congressional computers.

The distance is 1.72 miles as the crow flies, NW of the WH and 2 miles by car. It would be about a 15 minute drive.

Is Pinterest listening to PHONE CALLS? Or just to nearby chatter? And, how close to the chatting does your phone have to be? Can I set my phone by the radio so PINTEREST can listen to Rush Limbaugh? Just curious.
