NY Socialist Students Want To Abolish ROTC

The City College of New York’s Young Democratic Socialists of America chapter wants the school’s Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) kicked off campus, according to a Monday report.

The college’s YDSA chapter announced its desire to ban the group from campus in a flyer presumably found on campus and posted to Twitter Friday, reported Campus Reform.

“ROTC off our campus,” said the socialist students. “The rich will never die for you…don’t die for the rich.”

In my opinion, colleges would do well to ban ALL demonstrations and political activity on campus. What students do off campus on their own time is their business, but college campuses should not be used as political billboards and recruiting grounds. This doesn't abridge anyones first amendment rights, as it doesn't preclude them from stating what they think or being activists off campus. It just provides an equally applied environment for all who are going to that university for an education - without the distraction of those who want to use the campus as a political tool.

If federal funds are going to the school and the ROTC program is removed, so should the federal funding.

Abolishing Socialism (Communism) would just solve too many problems. Most of these little snot nosed punks, I guarantee, hail from upper middle class to outright rich families. Few poor people truly aspire to be “Marxists”, because they actually want to be rich. If the snots had to live a real life of Marxist poverty (no toilet paper), they’d go running home to mama.

Yes, I agree to ridding colleges and universities of political groups or any group that “sounds” political. Off campus like fraternities and sororities have been banned...why not?
