South Korea to remove its propaganda loudspeakers amid diplomatic breakthrough

South Korea will remove its propaganda-broadcasting loudspeakers from the border with North Korea amid diplomatic breakthrough between the two countries.

Seoul's Defense Ministry said Monday that it will remove its frontline loudspeakers on Tuesday and expects Pyongyang to follow the suit.

The loudspeakers blasted anti-communist propaganda and K-pop songs since early 2016 after North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test.

The move came after a historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in last week. It was the first time a member of the Kim dynasty was known to set foot on South Korean soil since the end of the Korean War in 1953.

Is Trump's tough talk leading to peace on the Korean peninsula? Retired brigadier general Anthony Tata provides insight.

The two leaders shook hands and agreed to work together to achieve a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula and end the hostilities.

"I feel like I'm firing a flare at the starting line in the moment of (the two Koreas) writing a new history in North-South relations, peace and prosperity," Kim said during the meeting.

Moon replied that there were high expectations that they create an agreement that will be a "big gift to the entire Korean nation and every peace loving person in the world."

No to rain on anyone’s parade, but.... ‘breakthrough’?

Kim has so far agreed to abandon a nuclear test site that had been destroyed, anyway.

In addition..... well, in addition, there’s nothing but jolly smiles and a lot of talk.

Personally, I’ll be the first to cheer when he agrees to internationally-supervised disassembly of all weapons and on-site examination.

We don’t need a repeat of obama’s Iran fiasco.

We have been thorough these cycles before. There is no “breakthrough” as of yet. Can people specifically extrapolate where there has been one? I’m waiting...

Kim loves to ‘play’ the world’s gullible politicians, and he’s very, very good at it after a long history of doing it. I hope The Donald isn’t one of them.

Crazy.
Just turn them around so Moon can use them to send propaganda south!

Could it be a ploy or delaying tactic by little Kimmy? Yup, it sure could be. Then again why not talk-talk? It is better than war-war. Maybe the ultimate goal is to get US troops out of S. Korea so as to better enable China free reign in the Pacific. That could be a goal of the evil powers, most certainly. But until our side sees what cards are being laid on the table, we should accept all in good faith. (for the moment)

Kim and Moon exchanging a symbolic trade-off of footsteps into each others’ countries is a breakthrough.. No one would’ve bet on that happening just 6 months ago.

Hey, I’ll take some of those of their hands to stick in my car. Give a whole to meaning to “boom box.”

Apparently you missed Kim DJ and Ro Mu Hyun’s “historic” footsteps and the peace that brought us.

All of this just makes me wonder, when Kim was summoned to Beijing, what did the Chinese tell him? I’m sure that the collapse of the mountain on his nuclear testing site and the possibility of release of massive amounts of radiation on China’s border had a lot to do with it. My guess is they said, “enough of this crap. Drop all this talk of war and missiles or we’ll get somebody who will do it for us.”

I imagine there is some very annoying K-pop, but here is a nice one:
