A Greek gunboat was nudged by a Turkish cargo vessel early on Friday while on patrol for unauthorized migrant crossings in the Aegean Sea, the Greek navy said.
The gunboat “Armatolos” was on patrol off the island of Lesbos as part of a NATO operation when the incident occurred at 4 a.m. local time (0100 GMT).
The Turkish-flagged vessel “approached and touched” the Greek gunboat, the navy said in a statement. It then accelerated toward Turkish shores and did not respond to subsequent radio calls from the Greek gunboat, according to the statement.

America would probably try to straddle the two. Turkey is the more important power, but Greece is in the right, so I would say to support Greece. But Greece is far weaker than Turkey.
There was a previously posted article about this? I did a quick keyword search before posting, and didn’t find anything.

My only knowledge of the area is what I’ve seen on travel shows. I can’t help noticing that all vessels, big and small, fly their nation’s flag. I assume that it is required. I know the two sides really don’t like each other. Shame that so much Greek heritage is in unfriendly hands.

Yep. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Turkey set this whole thing up, hoping to make Greece appear to be in the wrong. A Turkish cargo ship “accidentally” wanders onto a Greek warship’s path. The Greek warship fires on the “innocent” Turkish cargo ship. Turkish warplanes respond.
But the Greek ship did not open fire. Oh well. Erdogan can try another day.
If we are going hypothetical here I’d kick Turkey out of NATO last Monday.

I did read such an article this morning while revving up on coffee. A Google Search for - Turkish Freighter rams - turns up a lot of articles with “ram” in the title for the event. I read it, but perhaps not here. And, “ram” is a lot more dramatic, don’t you think?
