As an American of Chinese descent, Do you understand the amount of social and civil unrest the ChiComs would face if we stopped buying products from China, even for a short period of three months?
The people who make our products in China are virtual indentured servants in huge factories, working six days a week churning out the junk that we buy. I know this as a fact, as I have worked for an American company in China.
They cannot afford to be idled industrially for any length of time. Their economy would collapse. They are also the biggest importer of American soybeans. Sure, they can go to other markets for a short period of time, but the vacuum they create buy buying from other countries, will be filled with American soybeans.
When China recognizes territorial waters around the Spratleys to be international in scope, we may be willing to take this matter up with Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong.
Taiwan is China.
The mainland is Red China.
If the US stopped buying their stuff tomorrow, where would China be? Where would we be? I think they have a lot more to lose than we do in this relationship.
Drop in the bucket compared to patent infringement.
China and Taiwan should not be referred to as separate countries. The mainland should be referred to as occupied provinces of the Republic of China.
