Justice Department invites Nunes, Gowdy to briefing on classified info Nunes demanded

Department of Justice officials have invited House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, as well as fellow top Republican on the committee Rep. Trey Gowdy, to a briefing Thursday on the classified information Nunes demanded in a subpoena last week, CBS News correspondent Paula Reid reports.

The exact nature of the information Nunes requested is unclear. Tension between the DOJ and some Republicans in Congress have persisted for months, as Republican chairmen have demanded extensive department records, many of them related to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian election meddling and any ties to the Trump campaign. President Trump has expressed intense frustration over what he has perceived as DOJ's failure to answer to Congress. Last week, the president railed against a "rigged system" with "unequal 'justice.'"

Will Nunes get to see anything that will help to understand who the "secret source" who helped the Mueller "probe?" I am skeptical. This could be a DOJ ploy to stall, and possibly to misinform Nunes also.

They will twist his arm but reveal nothing. He needs to stick to his demand.

Sessions looks like just another wimpy, lawyer-politican with little/no management experience who couldn’t handle two dogs on a leash, let alone manage a large, bureaucratic organization like the DOJ.

Sessions will not be participating because his recusal is deemed to cover this matter. WaPo:

Because Sessions is recused from the Russia investigation and investigations involving the 2016 campaign, he is not involved in the discussions surrounding Nunes’s request, according to a person familiar with the matter.

I say go, if it’s as important as it seems to be.

However, this is a big problem.
DOJ is telling congressional oversight that oversight doesn’t really exist, and you have to come into ‘our house’ to discuss it.

Why this is a problem is that it’s not a discussion, and congress shouldn’t have to give up ‘home field advantage’ on their congressional powers.

I still say go though.

Sessions could end this with a 2 paragraph memo.

But he hasn’t. Why not?

Right, if they don’t go the deep state propagandists will continue in the same vein as, “Nunes demanded the docs and then didn’t read them.”

When AG Sessions recused himself, he essentially recused the DOJ loyalists to the President. Everybody else are the Kenyan Administration holdovers and NeverTrumptards.

Rush just said sources indicate he’s a spy planted in the Trump campaign, by the FBI. A turncoat mole. A rat.

It appears to me that the Granny has recused himself from being AG.

You’re right. Notice, detractors, that Adam Schiff isn’t invited to leak the briefing. This is an explanation of a greater good.

Really hoping you and I are right here.

I hope you are as well! I have my doubts, but I think we’ll have a better idea when the next IG report comes out - and I have it on very, very good authority that Horowitz is an honest, upstanding guy who’s completely disgusted by what was (is?) going on at DOJ. Furthermore, what is US Attorney Huber up to and what is his real role?

Why doesn’t Herr Heinrich Mueller RESIGN???

Maybe he's not interested in the truth unless it promotes his prestige?

He trusts the deep state snd really thinks if he keeps trying he will prove that the Russians and Trump teamed up to do something nefarious (e.g. defeat Hillary, help Russia)?
