I find Gatestone to be refreshingly centrist. It encourages dialogue between the center-left, represented by people such as Senator Joe Lieberman and myself, and people from the center- right represented by speakers such as John Bolton and the eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson

They're also centrist in their coverage of terrorism. They report attacks on Jews, but they post a great deal on the slaughter of Christians. I've posted many of those articles here thru them and Frontpagemagazine. And the slaughter of Hindus, abuse of women. And the like. And also peaceful Muslims. Dershowitz was born in 1938--he was 11 years old when Joe McCarthy became a household name. Perhaps he is too young to remember the Alger Hiss trials or the trials of the leading US Communists.

I'm too young to remember the McCarthy era but I doubt his claim that "all decent people" were more upset by rhetoric which might have intimidated fellow travelers of that era than they were with what they knew of the horrors of Communism. During the same period we were fighting the Korean War. Stalin, Mao, and Kim Il Sung were our enemies.

I often disagree with Alan Dershowitz on matters of politics, but I respect him as an honorable man who loves freedom, respects the law, and reveres the truth. Dershowitz listens intently and speaks reasonably, and makes conversations interesting and informative. Excellent column.

Alan Dershowitz is a moral liberal and a believer in Constitutional law as written. Oddly he is on our side because he believes in The Constitution as written. I do not like his liberal beliefs but at the same time he is a strong defender of original interpretation of The Constitution. He is a good man.
