The State Bar of California is investigating porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti, Fox News has confirmed, after a complaint was filed regarding allegedly unpaid taxes.

According to the state bar's website, an investigation is launched based on a complaint only if the state bar attorney "sees evidence of a serious violation."

Here in FL, bar complaint materials are subject to open records requests. Don’t know about CA, but I assume it is the same. So, at some point, and not so distant considering this was filed in March, we should be able to see the nuts and bolts of the complaint. What goes around, comes around, brother Avenatti!
For those of us who cheer at this story I wouldn’t get your hopes up. The only way he gets reprimanded is if it receives ongoing attention in the press. In the early ‘90’s I had a complaint against an attorney that misrepresented me according to multiple other attorneys that reviewed my case so I went to the State of California Bar Association in Sacramento to file a complaint only to learn that it was not active due to lack of dues paying members, it was self funded. Did I hate lawyers? Yep!
One of our clients filed a complaint three years ago. Actually, there have been many complaints filed by our clients. Only this one was not rejected outright. It’s been three years and she’s heard nothing. Don’t hold your breath.
