Staring down the prospect of a public relations crisis boycott threats and "die-in" protests included over its donations to Republican gubernatorial hopeful Adam Putnam, Publix said Friday it has halted all corporate political contributions.
The supermarket giant made the announcement moments before a "die-in" protest planned by David Hogg, a vocal Parkland school shooting survivor and gun control activist. Despite the news, Hogg and dozens of protestors sprawled on the floor of a Coral Springs Publix for 12 minutes clutching sunflowers and signs that read "No NRA Money."
Hogg and other students began their influential movement for gun control in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that left 17 dead and 17 wounded. They've taken aim particularly at the National Rifle Association, and were angered at the news of the grocer's unprecedented support for Putnam, who once boasted he was a "proud NRA sellout."
At $670,000 over the last three years, it's the largest contribution the company has made in more than two decades and possibly the biggest in company history.

I’ve shopped at the same Publix every since it opened. I told the manager tonight that I’m going to start doing most of my grocery shopping at the newly remodeled Super Target near me.
Aldi!!!!
Only BOGOs at Publix.
The Big Story today is Tommy Robinson’s arrest and its nowhere to be found on Free Republic. PITIFUL
Im amazed how much political power that skinny little f**k Hogg has amassed over this. Seems that whenever he says frog, jump, those craven companies reflexively say, how high? Truly pathetic.
They didn’t notice what happened to Chick-fil-a!!!
I didn’t eat there until they went anti-PC. They are still doing well.
It’s amazing to see how fast businesses fold the communist wave.
Same for me with ChikFilA....now its the only FF place Ill patronize
Publix just got my email
“Seems that whenever he says frog, jump, those craven companies reflexively say, how high? Truly pathetic.”

So is daddy a member of the Deep State? What is being done behind the scenes by the Deep State to ban guns?
I googled the story, read an article, and am still not clear on who he is or what he did.
Child grooming?
The Parkland shooter was angry about bullying.
Now the Parkland students are there bullying everyone with their activism.
I love the irony.
The bullying from these people continues....
Step on them and roll carts over them.
I sent them a message telling them
“Congratulations on pissing off the vast majority of your customers who are conservatives that support the Second Amendment. Good luck with that impending bankruptcy.”
I would proceed to kick them in the head.
“Oh sorry, I tried to step over them”
“Please tell me they’re still going to do a “die-in.”
I’d respond with a “Piss-in”. Urine cleans up faster than those people. So if they wouldn’t move...piss on ‘em!
Sure, there’s Fresh Market, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Wynn’s, Lucky’s and others but none have the footprint of Publix.
Besides they treat you nice and they have the best fried chicken.
I actually have no problem with a company saying no more political contributions.
As long as it is NO contributions.
If they gave this kid his ransom, then F Publix.
I say that as a kid who grew up in south Florida. I worked at Publix for years as a teenager. When I went to Georgia Tech, I HATED the grocery stores available. Then Publix came to GA in the late 90s and I would go out of my way to go there.
But if they gave this kid his $1m ransom, I will go to my Kroger every day (I want to puke). If it is a simple pledge to stay out of politics, Im cool. Most companies should.
“Besides they treat you nice and they have the best fried chicken.”

Then shop there, they are giving you what you want.
If we stayed away from all businesses run by liberals we’d have virtually no place to go.
