A repentant, public admission of what ever has been offered to bribe him, or threatened against him and or his family by the deep state would make an enormous impact!
The people of the US love to forgive a repentant man, God, even immeasurably more so! Because God has a deep and abiding love for every soul that has become lost.
And if their were threats to harm his loved ones, the deep-state will have awakened a sleeping giant...and filled him with a terrible resolve :-(

It does seem bizarre to have a Special Counsel investigating a President for firing the country’s top investigator (i.e. FBI Director) in the country when it turns out that this director was committing crimes.
