Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have communicated several times over the past few months and are seeking to schedule a meeting between the two later this year, a new report says.

One option on the table is for Abe to travel to Pyongyang in August, but another possibility is for Abe and Kim to meet during the Eastern Economic Forum in September if Kim decided to attend, according to the Yomiuri newspaper.

The report comes after a Tuesday summit between the U.S. and North Korea, where President Trump and Kim signed a joint statement agreeing to pursue a “stable peace” on the peninsula.

Two missiles were fired over Japan in 2017 by North Korea as the rogue regime continued to develop its nuclear weapons program.

Japan has a history of being brutal to the Koreans. Some hold grudges a long time. That can be understood.

Well actually Pompeo said Thursday meeting while with Japan and S. Korea leaders that they would be instrumental in working together regarding the denuclearizing of N.Korea. Which is why this meeting is called for .... things are moving forward pretty quickly.

All of Asia wants to move while the iron is hot before too many outsiders begin to affect the pace it’s currently going on.

Yes this is true.....but the idea is to let the past be the past and work from here. Abe wants his hostages and knows this has to be negotiated between he and Kim rather than through Trump, though he can put some weight behind it if needed.

I like the idea the asians meet together...this fits perfectly with my thoughts regarding how they all have to work.

One thing a lot of people forget is how effective Trump is at delegating responsibility to the parties involved....as well as those of his administration. This is why so many things are getting done.....they are all so busy they can’t get in each others way because Trump is at the lead. He doesn’t get in their way either.

I agree. The Asians should be meeting to work out their own issues. Everybody wins that way.

Moments like Kim Jong Un’s ‘Singapore night tour’ and his ‘surprise summit with Moon Jae-in at the DMZ’ underscores his openness and willingness ‘to take risks with his image’... This is not necessarily in the playbook.

I'm still ROTFL when Trump took Kim over to check out his car “beast”.....talk about “unconventional!” But if you look carefully at the video I was surprised his security didn't get majorly shaken when Kim actually stooped to look in before they got into a frenzy and he backed off. Heck Trump and the security could have pushed him in the vehicle and been gone! But that showed how trusting and comfortable Kim was of Trump...it was a 'seriously remarkable' moment!

You don't see Kim's security stepping up until realizing the possible threat ....he's laughing!

How N.Korea prsents Pres. Trump has 'changed.'...From Dotard to Donald: North Korean State Media Puts Trump on Page 1... North Koreans were introduced to a man named Donald J. Trump, who flew to a city-state to meet with their respected Supreme Leader, Kim Jong Un. they had known the U.S. president simply as “Trump,” who was described in the North Korean press last year as “senile,” “a living corpse” and, in one infamous turn of phrase, a “dotard.”

NOW referring to him as “Donald J. Trump, president of the United States of America.”.....“The tone is unlike anything that they have used to refer to 'any' sitting U.S. president since the Korean War—I cannot think of one exception,” Mr. Ward said.....“It’s quite a sudden change,” says Peter Ward, a North Korea researcher at Seoul National University.

Japan has a history of being brutal to the Koreans. Some hold grudges a long time. That can be understood.

The North wants to rule Korea. The South wants to rule Korea. The only way for the two Koreas to become one is under united rule. Japan has experience, having ruled Korea for half a century. Japan modernized Korea from a backwater nation. After WWII the Russians stripped all the modern facilities from the North and it went back to being a backwater area. Let Japan rule a united Korea (Koreans will have to let old grudges die) and the whole will prosper. (Ducking before bricks start flying my way...)
