Gallup: Satisfaction with direction of country highest since 2005
American Thinker ^ | 06/18/2018 | Rick Moran

Satisfaction with the direction the country is going is higher today than it's been since 2005, according to the most recent Gallup survey.

Thirty-eight percent of Americans are satisfied with the way things are going in the United States today, similar to last month's 37% satisfaction rate but marking the numerical high since a 39% reading in September 2005.

The satisfaction rate, which Gallup has measured at least monthly since 2001, has now topped 35% three times this year – a level reached only three times in the previous 12 years (once each in 2006, 2009 and 2016).

Satisfaction with the nation is now back to the historical average of 37% for this trend, which was first measured in 1979, but is far below the majority levels reached in the economic boom times of the mid-1980s and late 1990s.

Not surprisingly, Republicans are more ebullient about the direction of the country compared to Democrats.  But it is striking that the largest increase in satisfaction occurred in rural America compared to big cities and small towns.

Much has been written in recent months about rural America's disappointment with Trump.  These numbers seem to belie that reporting.

Now, at the midpoint of 2018, as the United States continues to enjoy a nine-year-long economic expansion, the number of Americans finding satisfaction in the country's direction is on the rise.  This reflects more than a growing comfort with Donald Trump as president; growth in satisfaction has outstripped growth in Trump's approval rating.  And it is more than economic good news – the percentage satisfied has risen more over the past two months than the percentage who think the economy is in good shape

Rassmussen shows similar numbers. The trend is unmistakable when considering the Obama years (puke.)

‘nine-year-long economic expansion’ - I gag when I read those words - what a farce. Obama did all he could to stifle growth and capitalism. The oil/gas boom worked around his vile regulations as best they could.

Democrats are saddened, deeply saddened by all this good news.

Which is why they were forced to bring up the detained illegal kid outrage.

Of course we all know that Obama's brilliant policies over the previous 8 years after the worst recession since the Great Depression, set the stage for this remarkable recovery!

It'd be even better, but Trump has been doing things to suppress it...

KIDDING -- SARCASM -- SATIRE!!!!

2005, coincidentally the year before it became obvious that GW Bush was on the side of illegal aliens and their employers.

That’s liberal virtue signaling.

They have no intention of fixing the problem. They just want a political issue.

......Blue Wave is so not happening...

What are Democrats running on? Bringing back ISIS. Lowering the GDP to Obama levels?
Increasing black and Hispanic unemployment,
increasing taxes and reducing spendable income?
Lowering the labor participation rate,
War with the NORKS,
bringing back jobs,
Bringing back overseas money for investment here,
lowering our standard of living,
A Cradle to grave nanny state?

2005 is the year GW Bush decided to take a sharp left turn.

“The oil/gas boom worked around his vile regulations as best they could”

Not only his, but stupid dem governors like the one in NY.
The states of PA & OH are having huge economic benefits from the natural gas fracking boom. Meanwhile counties right next door in central NY still have high unemployment and slow economies.

Yup. Exactly. This will have some of them kill themselves, literally. Like Bourdain and Mitch Snyder back in the day.

So 2005 was the turning point. Interesting timing. George Bush's second term started in 2005.

I've said it before and I'll say it here again: George W. Bush's second term was a disaster. He focused all his energies on amnesty, losing all the support of his base, making people on both sides generally dislike him and his policies and priming the country to try an unqualified rookie named Obama. He showed his true despicable colors starting on 2005 and gave us 10 years of stagnation and decline as a result. And if he had his way, the Bush's would have either gotten a chance to push their globalist agenda or gladly helped President Hillary do the same.

Thank God for Trump.
