Anyway - those people got what they wanted - the cops are gone.
And this. This is the aftermath.
Also please note the Fake News Headline.
“infamous police killing”? As we all know - Garner was not placed in a chokehold. His death was due to his own fat stupidity.
What they need are more liberal politicians. Ones who will stoke the racial flames of hatred for political gain. That will help.
Why aren't the always virtue signaling SJWs signing up to be cops and helping their downtrodden brethren? You know, protecting them from the man. Demonstrating their super awesome virtuousness!
Exactly.
If the cops leave these people alone, no crime stats, low crime rate for the area, the Mayor is happy.
Sounds like a DNC convention.
They just thought they had it bad. Now they see what life without the police is like.
the cops probably should have left EG alone, and fight the really serious crime, but its not the cops fault that this guy had medical issues...IIRC, they did a choke hold, but he got up and into the ambulance on his own, and then had a heart attack....correct me if I am wrong...
This is Tompkinsville Park on Staten Islands North Shore in 2018 and, to area residents and merchants caught in its heroin- and K2-infested vortex, this is a battlefield.
Every day you see muggings, prostitutes, people smoking crack and shooting up heroin, said Xhafer Gjeshbitraj, 52, who owns a building across the street from the tiny, triangular park bounded by Bay Street and Victory Boulevard.
Its a war zone, in the truest sense of the word.
Oh, such a beautiful multicultural mosaic!
I bet you couldn’t find a single democrat who would admit this is a disaster. And the lowlifes in the neighborhood still trash talk police.
As a first-responder but non-EMT I always feel sorry for the EMTs... Those guys and gals always have to step in. I salute them!
Cool place to hang out.
I’m pretty sure the building owner quoted in this story is the same guy who made the 311 call that precipitated the police fighting with Garner.
After all that I’m surprised he’s still in the neighborhood.
This is New York, not America
In the nearly four years since Eric Garner was killed in a struggle with an NYPD officer across the street from the park, ... .
**************
Like too many blacks, Garner felt that he was entitled to resist a lawful arrest. Unbeknownst to the officer, Garner had a pre-existing condition that made his resisting arrest dangerous to him. The officer released his grip after Garner stated that he was having trouble breathing, and he rested on the ground until the ambulance came. He subsequently died in the ambulance, which did not arrive all that quickly.
