Democrats cannot block a nominee. They do not have 50 votes.
“”””Democrats cannot block a nominee. They do not have 50 votes.””””
Neither do the republicans.
Dems have 48 plus Flake, McCain, Murkowski, Collins. They can block a conservative.
You are assuming McCain CAN vote at all, and Flake will vote yes, and Snowe will vote yes, and Thune as well.
Don’t count on ex GropGROPelites for anything but their paychecks.
The majority leader schedules the hearings on the nominee. McConnell is majority leader. That’s how he was able to stop Garland. He simply refused to schedule the hearing. Dems do not have that power right now.
As things stand, the dems have zero ability to stop anything to do with this process. All they can do is raise hell and look stupid during the committee hearings, which they will do in spades which will work in favor of republicans.
The ONLY thing that can interfere with confirmation of whoever Trump nominates is GOP defection.
True. But that assumes all Republicans will vote for confirmation. McCain? Collins?
“Democrats cannot block a nominee. They do not have 50 votes.”
Don’t forget sleazy McCain, who would likely crawl 2000 miles on broken glass, tumor and all, to cast a vote to hurt President Trump.
