Peter Strzok, the counterintelligence agent who texted that well stop then-candidate Donald Trump from becoming president, defended himself from allegations of bias during a closed-door interview with House investigators on Wednesday, characterizing his messages as private remarks exchanged in the course of an intimate relationship.
He told investigators from the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees that he regretted the messages, to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an affair.
But lawmakers in the room said he repeatedly denied showing political favoritism to former secretary of State Hillary Clinton over Trump, at a time when the bureau was juggling investigations related to both presidential candidates.
Beyond that spare accounting, Republicans and Democrats painted very different portraits of Strzoks over-eight hour interview, which took place behind closed doors and was still ongoing as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.
House conservatives hinted gravely that they had learned unspecified new information that is connected to the FBIs handling of investigations during the 2016 election but provided no evidence or specifics to substantiate their claims.
Im not teasing you. I promise youthere is additional information that comes out, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) said, when pressed.
If they want to ask questions that they already know the answers to, thats up to them, he added in an apparent reference to Democrats. Were finding additional information.
Judiciary chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) also declined to provide specifics, but said it is his intention to hold an open hearing with Strzok "soon."

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) also said that Strzok gave lawmakers good information about the transition from the FBI investigation of the Trump campaigns alleged ties to Russia to special counsel Robert Muellers probe.

Goodlatte was just on Fox. says his answers are not believable and the FBI lawyers are telling him to not answer many questions.
Because far too many of them don’t give a rats ass what Mueller and company are doing. They want Trump gone too.
Apparently FBI lawyers would not allow him to answer any questions other then about the text and to say they did not influence his decisions. But the lawyers would not alow him to answer what questions were not influenced. The FBI is completely corrupt and hiding it. And they have the support in congress between the dems and rinos that nothing can be done about it.
How does Katie Bo know this if it was a confidential meeting behind closed doors?
I have never seen a case that is more deserving of a special prosecutor then this one. Will we ever see justice?
Why closed door is the big question.
Closed door. Figures.
closed hearing? i guess you were worried about something important slipping out huh?
Today was a worthless orchestrated sham. Indict the liar and then prosecute him and his cohorts.
I wonder what Peter’s DU screen name is
Sadly not in my lifetime I fear.
I want to know why he was allowed to testify behind closed doors? This ridiculous man and his paramour were working to invalidate my vote, your vote and millions like us. We have every right to hear from his own mouth why and by what means he felt justified to do this?
I am livid and I have to wonder why republicans are so afraid to have this creature testify publically. Were they afraid that he would mention their names?
Probably not...
The “professional politicians” and their cohorts (FBI, etc) in Washington are as corrupt and criminal as any we have ever seen....
DiGenova last night on Hannity said hed absolutely come to the hearing and lie! Big surprise.
It might have been a condition insisted on by Strzok for his voluntary participation.
Congressional hearings almost always have questions and answers negotiated ahead of time with little straying from script allowed. This might have been a little more free form.
Note that Strzok hasn’t even been fired yet.
Like the truth maybe? Yes, they sure cant allow the truth to get out.
If our politicians and FBI, DOJ were in North Korea’s government and acted the way they do here, Kim Jong Un would have every one of them shot...
