Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reportedly brought a CD with the Elton John song Rocket Man to give as a gift to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his visit to the country.
Pompeo arrived in North Korea on Friday amid talks between the two countries over denuclearizing North Korea.
Pompeo brought two gifts for Kim, including a letter from President Trump and the CD, according to The Chosun Ilbo, a top newspaper in South Korea.
Last year, amid escalating rhetoric between the two countries, Trump repeatedly referred to Kim as Rocket Man and Little Rocket Man.
A diplomatic source in Washington cited by Chosun Ilbo explained that the Rocket Man CD was the subject of discussion during Trump's lunch with Kim when they first met for a summit in Singapore last month.
According to the outlet, when Kim referenced Trumps nickname, Trump asked him if hes familiar with the song. Trump later asked Pompeo to bring a copy of the CD during his subsequent trip.

An Elton John CD is better than an iPod filled with Obama speeches...
“Send him a Benny and the Jets CD. Those lyrics will really confuse him.”
The Biz Markie version...
It’s a subtle hint to “This Little Light of Mine”.....
I think what this means is that Kim gets the joke and is not offended. He may even consider it a kind of honor to be branded with such a well known song by a Westerner. There are far worse songs to be labeled with. Rocket Man is very well written and performed. Not overly gussied up like most of Elton’s big hits.
If Elton really, really hated his song being used in this manner, he would be publicly say so. The fact that there has been no official reaction from Elton may show that he’s okay with it too. More attention = More sales.
And gave Hooters a dispensation to open a franchise in Pyongyang.
Do NOT send Kim another hit from the 1980’s;
“Turning Japanese” by The Vapors.
It’s a great song, a fun little earworm, but might send the wrong message.
Ohhhh, he say I not man I think I am!
Yes Shatner is best
At least he’s not giving him a CD of his speeches.
OH MY GOSH I WANT ONE!
Good thing he didn’t give him The Lion King Soundtrack or he’d be launching the missiles now.
Libs heads must be exploding about it being “unpresidential”. Even better: Elton John must be in a fit of total outrage! This is as good for outrage as the week’s big event. Pruitt is gone, just like the maniacs wanted. So a former lobbyist for the coal industry takes his place!
>> Pruitt is gone, just like the maniacs wanted
I’m from Oklahoma. I like Scott Pruitt. However..... He should have known better than to play the “get my wife a job” game, and watched his budget better. I’m a huge fan of anyone getting fired that plays King, as a department head.
Scott screwed up, I’m not going to defend him, and I’m glad Trump removed him. I think it had LESS to do with the media attacks on Pruitt, and more to do with him playing fast and lose with the guidelines for behavior trump set.
He was doing a good job at the EPA, but that doesn’t excuse some of the wrongs.
You make an interesting point. Elton was a huge Hillary supporter in 2008 - but in 2016 he was as quiet as a churchmouse.
Of course, he has known POTUS Trump personally for decades (I saw him in concert in 1990 at the Trump Atlantic City casino and the media made a big deal about how Trump gave him a grand tour and feted him the day before the 2-night concert engagement), so he knows that the garbage about POTUS Trump in the media is - garbage.
Perhaps in his older years he has received the age-old wisdom that entertainers should not gratuitously insult half their audience ...
I had never seen this before.....Shatner did great.
Interesting insights.
He should have given him a Team America: Secret Police DVD.
