As St. Paul said, "We see through a glass darkly, but then face to face;" as Plato observed, our understanding of absolute truth is about like understanding an object by observing its shadow; and as our contemporary physicists theorize, the world that we observe seems to be a hologram.
Similarly, our concept of the bodhisattva tends to be unsophisticated.

Highly enlightened souls tend to maintain an awareness of the world of pre-incarnation/post-incarnation (spirituality, heaven, the bardo state, etc.), in which our souls actually live, most of us for the most part unaware, during incarnation, and this awareness gives them insights and awareness that contribute to what we would consider extraordinary intelligence.
