Dear U of W I am offended by the use of Cowboy as a campus mascot. First of all the idea of human and cow mating and having a son is repulsive, anti-religious, and immoral. And trip]ggers those students who’s parents mate with animals.
Secondly, “boy” went out in the 50s when blacks complained a 57 year old porter shouldn’t;t be called a boy by a 23 year old anybody.
Third, as California has done and outlawed cow farts, you can see how cows are destroying the planet.
Fourth, milk is unnecessary and harmful. Many people are now lactose intolerant and on Almond or soy. Get with the new mellenium.
5. Cow, beef, get it? Really. Does anyone eat beef anymore. We tried to drive the price up, who can afford it.

The Buffalo Bill Wild West Show’s Congress of Rough Riders had cowboys from ethnic groups across the world including American Indians, Mexican vaqueros, gauchos from Argentina, Puerto Ricans, Filipinos, Hawaiians, Arabs and many other races and ethnic groups.
I’m confused, I thought that naming a college mascot after a people group was demeaning to that people group as it stereotypes their strength and aggression. /s

yes! here in Texas a large part of our “cowboys” are in fact black and are some of the best at what they do.

My grandfather was a cowboy, also the son of two immigrants, and lived out his days in Wyoming.
I suppose that it doesn’t matter from a historical accuracy standpoint that most cowboys were actually African American and only Hollywood made them white heterosexual men in stereotype.
