What a disgusting length of time. What are some other long rat held state constitutional offices?

I know there hasn’t been a GOP Auditor in MA since ‘31, or Sec of State since ‘49.

NM Sec of State was rat from ‘31 till we finally won it in 2010. Unfortunately the rats got it back in the 2016 special election.

There appears to be conflicting info on MA Auditor. Wikipedia’s “party strength” list says the last Republican, Alonzo Cook, served from 1915 until his defeat in 1930. However, OurCampaigns shows a Republican did win it back in the 1938 anti-FDR backlash, Russell Wood. He beat the Dem incumbent, one Thomas H. Buckley. Another Democrat named Thomas J. Buckley (not father and son or brother, if any relation at all - you know the “name” stunts the Dems used to pull in MA), who was 2 years older than the other Buckley, ran in 1940 and narrowly defeated Wood.

Wood tried a few more times to get it back, doing well, but coming up short (he nearly won it back in 1946). T.J. Buckley would sit in office until his death in 1964. There were no close races again until 2010 when the seat came open and a GOP lady, Mary Zarrilli Connaughton, lost to Suzanne Bump by just 2%.

As for MA Sec of State, there hasn’t been a close race above 45% since 1960 when Ed Brooke lost 47-52% in an open race against future Boston Mayor Kevin White. Brooke bounced back quickly and won the AG office in 1962 when the incumbent Dem AG, Eddie McCormack, Jr. (nephew of U.S. House Speaker John McCormack) left it to try to stop Ted Kennedy in the Dem Senate primary. Unfortunately (for all of us) he failed.
