Meanwhile, while Cuomo tries this BS, rumor has it that municipalities all over the state are cooking their books, that the comptroller and gov know about at least some of it, and NOTHING is being done.

When I first started filing my taxes, I could not believe I was allowed to deduct my state taxes on my federal form. I was told it’s to prevent double taxation. State and federal taxes pay for different services, so how can that be double taxation?

I hope Cuomo runs, too.

Trump will make mincemeat outta him, and hopefully shine a light on what the heck is going on all over this state.

They don’t give a dang about double taxation. It’s an attempt to keep people from fleeing blue, aka high tax, states. Given that NYS has lost almost half its Congressional districts over the last 60 years, gotta say that ain’t working.

That whole “living document” thing continues to take on new meaning every day: “I have a constitutional right to be reimbursed by the federal government for taxes I paid that were imposed by state legislators that I elected.”

I maintain that “Self-inflicted wounds are always the most painful” - in every respect.

Actually this is not a problem just for rich NYers, but for most NY homeowners. As a reluctant resident of the Socialist Republic of NY, soon to be not-so-proudly represented by Ms Ocasio-Cortez, I can tell you that STARTER homes(2br, 1ba, 950sq ft, .12A) in my area (Rockland County) can have village taxes of $2000 and county/town/school taxes of $8000. Moving “up” to a family home of 3br/2ba, 1400sqft will incur about $12000 in taxes. It is absurd.

Many of the local papers etc always complain about the high cost of living -— 1br apt rents for $1300-1400, 2Br for about $1900-2100, 3br for $2500-2700 —— and they always complain about the “greed” of landlords. I have a 4br,2ba house I rent out for $2900/month -— a 70%LTV loan Principal, interest, and taxes come to $2650/mo.

While I’d love a tax break, this lawsuit is BS. This horrible state should just get its fiscal house in order, but with Cuomo at the head of the gov’t-should-give-everyone-everything-for-free party, that is a pipe dream. Many people I know have left for other states; I am sure to follow as soon as I am able.

It seems to me that disparity in the reimbursements would be unconstitutional.

This could backfire on NY. Instead of disallowing the caps, the court could disallow any reimbursement at all.

I don’t see how such a lawsuit can survive a simple motion to dismiss. It doesn’t state a cognizable claim.

Remember- Cuomo is the moron who kicked-off the last major global economic meltdown

Bill Clinton signed the law requiring banks to stop ‘redlining’.

‘Redlining’ was the evil democrat name given to the process where a bank would make sure you were working and could afford to take out a loan, before they gave you a loan.

You know, normal common-sense business practice.

The banks essentially ignored the law because it was SO STUPID, but then Clinton’s Attorney General CUOMO sued the first bank for what was at the time the largest settlement in history.

All the other banks then saw the light:

If they didn’t make bad loans the government would sue them into oblivion. If they DID make the loans, the government would cover their losses. So...

They made $billions in bad loans and set off the housing ‘crisis’.

Bill Clinton created the bomb- Andrew Cuomo lit the fuse.

Understood.

I live in rural CT—fortunately our small town’s taxes are lower than most because we have no middle school or high school.

Get ready to cry—my numbers—2100 square foot house on 7.5 acres. Annual property tax—4K.

80 miles north of NYC.

I always avoided working in NYC my whole life despite many job offers—that is one reason why.

These socialists need to be asked a very simple question: “Why should a resident of your state with taxable income of $200,000 pay less Federal income tax than a resident of Nebraska with the same taxable income?”

This is what they are advocating for. In effect, tax-payers from other states are subsidizing the high taxes these liberal bastions assess.

Why don’t they want to pay their fair share?

The LIB pinhead, cuomo, has a lot of chutzpah. Maybe the moronic citizens of ny will go to his offices with pitchforks and tar in an attempt to lower their STATE taxes. What a feckless poltroon.

This suit is a total waste of time, effort and TAXPAYERS’ money.....................IOW, a perfect Dem project..........

Don’t forget, it also employes a battalion or two of attorneys, all on the state payroll.
