“Occupied Northern Virginia off of Virginia”
The sad part is that if you look at Virginia going back to the 1960’s, NoVa was the most Republican part of the state. The rest of the state was Dem - albeit former Byrd Democrats who were conservative but would never ever consider the idea of switching parties.
In order to win statewide back then, a GOP candidate needed to rack up really good numbers in NoVa and then perform reasonably well in the Valley and Va Beach.
Nowadays, a statewide GOP candidate needs to only not get slaughtered badly in NoVa to win statewide.
Not sure why some people here are cheering this.
This court just decided that a proposal should be removed from the ballot because it may be too “hard” to pull off if it passes.
That’s not the court’s issue to decide. If it passes, and ultimately falls apart, then so much for that, but the signatures were legitimately collected, and it ought to get its vote.
If done without the heat of a civil war, it would be an adiabatic path.
No one actually thought the state would ever allow a vote on such a thing, right?
Obama will get his 57 states and more
“...Obama will get his 57 states and more...”
The only thing that foreign POS should deserves to get is a free, lifetime stay in a cell at GITMO.
Minneapolis in MN also.
Those picks are more sensible than some others. Some people think you could actually separate all the big cities in a state from the rural areas and make them two separate states. That won't happen. And if it did, pretty quickly you'd have new state capitals swarming with the bureaucrats and liberals. Springfield and Albany are already swarming with bureaucrats and liberals, so your proposal looks more realistic than some of the others people come up with.
If it becomes three states, each one will get to elect 2/3 of a Senator.
Thanks Jim Robinson.
While I think this is a very bad idea, it pisses me off that it’s a COURT saying it cannot be done.
San Diego in one, LA in another, and San Francisco and Berkeley in the third. Should it be called Fudgepackistan, or Snowflakia?
Good. This plan was a scam as it left all three territories conveniently dominated by big cities, which would ensure all would produce Democrat results.
Beaten by the EnviroNazis, go figure. Do it anyway, f-them.
“If we get the necessary petitions, an overwhelming number of people to agree and then we all vote on it - it beccomes so! This is Democracy!”
“Hang on there partner. You can’t just go voting yourself into changing the lives of millions of people. You gotta have some sense about this. First, bring the idea to the professionals voted in to evaluate the plan and it’s effects. Then we will vote on how to proceed. This is a Republic.”
Oh Californians must be CRYING
Re Detroit: add in Flint and Saginaw.
CC
It needs consent. That doesn't have to come before a vote on the initiative though. The initiative isn't unconstitutional.
I agree
