House backs resolution expressing support for ICE
The Hill ^

The House on Wednesday approved a GOP resolution expressing support for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which a growing number of Democrats say should be abolished.

Republicans had hoped to divide Democrats by bringing up the bill.

In a 244-35 vote, the measure was approved, with 18 Democrats voting to back ICE and 34 voting against the resolution. Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) was the only Republican to vote against the measure.

Another 133 Democrats voted "present," which their leadership had urged the rank-and-file to do.

They did so to protest what they argued was a political stunt designed to distract the media and the public from Congress’s failure to enact immigration reforms, including efforts to address the ongoing separation of migrant families on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Can't locate a list of those 133 enemy RATs, but it would be nice to read if anyone can find it.

Political stunt or not, all of these Reps should be supporting ICE.

“Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) was the only Republican to vote against the measure.”

I guess he wants some votes from the mostly illegal alien SW side of Grand Rapids?

I will seriously never get this guy.

Imagine this in 1941:

In a 244-35 vote, the war declaration measure was approved, with 18 Democrats voting to back war and 34 voting against the resolution. Rep. Styles Bitchly (R-Mich.) was the only Republican to vote against the measure.

Another 133 Democrats voted "present," which their leadership had urged the rank-and-file to do.

They did so to protest what they argued was a political stunt designed to distract the media and the public from Congress’s failure to enact economic reforms, including efforts to address the ongoing separation of migrant families in the Dust Bowl.

Dems are always trying to discredit what republicans are doing by blowing it off.

They took a pounding and are embarrassed by it and are now doing damage control.

And the Senate Democrats shot it down. I’m actually McConnell brought it up for a vote.

This is exquisite rope-a-dope -- they can't vote No, because that would destroy them nationally, and they can't vote yes, because some of the local races turn on the, uh, non-local races. So, they vote "present", which is a dead giveaway, and everyone knows what it really means -- it means they want ICE abolished, but don't dare say so, orrrr, they want ICE not to be abolished, but don't dare say so. Democretins. Thanks bryan999.
