Gov. Phil Murphy signed a new law last month limiting the size of firearms magazines in New Jersey to 10 rounds as part of a package of bills meant to tighten the state's already strict gun laws.
But the measure, which made possession of larger magazines a crime, with a few exceptions, had unintended consequences for police officers in the Garden State. Now lawmakers are looking to clean up the problem, and the state Senate is slated Thursday to vote on a bill that would clarify how the high-capacity magazine ban applies to law enforcement.
State Sen. Loretta Weinberg, D-Bergen, a sponsor of the measure, said it was meant to "correct an oversight" that may have prohibited some police officers from carrying their service weapons while off duty.

Colorado rushed through ban of 30 round magazines and forgot to exempt police.
Half brained, rushed through, ill conceived, idiotic. Typical democrat.
Some are more equal than others.
Keep it the same.
That will be helpful in the lawsuits.
I don’t understand. Why would cops need bigger magazines than everyone else?
Especially when off duty. One would think they’d need fewer rounds
than the hoi polloi since they know what they’re doing with guns right?
Little Andy Cuomo did the same thing with his NY Safe Act stupidity. I don’t think it was by accident. I think they intended to do it in every case but there was unexpected push back and are pretending it was a mistake. Mistakes aren’t always one sided.
“Every now and then the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals arguably the nations most progressive federal circuit can offer up a legal surprise. Yesterday, it gave us a legal shock, when a divided panel of its judges affirmed last years federal district-court injunction temporarily blocking enforcement of Californias confiscatory ban on so-called large-capacity magazines.”

This ruling should affect new jersey’s unconstitutional legislation.
IF RAT libs were any insaner...or stupid, their IQ would be in the negative numbers.
Leave it. Cops in these RAT shitholes should have to come under the same laws as the citizens.
“Oops! Pro-gun control N.J. lawmakers look to fix high-capacity magazine ban ...includes cops “
Who cares what these New Jersey scum do to themselves and each other?
If you are normal then move out otherwise embrace the suck. Yes, yes I know, easier said than done.
On the other side of the country a panel of the ultra-liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled California’s magazine ban unconstitutional. They also made a separate ruling that citizens have the constitutional right to open carry. More winning, especially surprising from the 9th. The Senate can’t confirm Justice Kavanaugh too soon.
Because in police states they’re better than everyone else
Dumbasses!
There shouldn’t be any exemptions for “the king’s men”.
They should be under the same restrictions.
Needs repeating, about 17 times. Why the need when off duty? Don't regular folks need the same treatment? If there is the need for off duty cops, then there is the need for regular folks. Stupid laws, stupid lawmakers.
Forget it, Jake. It's New Jersey!
