Trumka blasted by teachers union boss for keeping door open on Trump 2020 endorsement
Fox News ^ | August 2, 2018 | Judson Berger

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka is getting an earful – on Twitter – from teachers union boss Randi Weingarten for reportedly keeping the door open to a possible Trump endorsement in 2020.

Newsmax reported Wednesday that Trumka would not rule out a union endorsement for the president.

“Every [candidate] will be looked at,” Trumka said. He added, “we will consider every candidate who’s running.”

Trumka simply may have been stating union policy, not wanting to get ahead of an endorsement process that is nowhere close to starting, for an election more than two years out.

At the same time, he noted to Newsmax that Trump did better with AFL-CIO members than Mitt Romney did in 2012, while Hillary Clinton fared worse than then-President Barack Obama in 2012. And Trumka sought to explain why some union members backed the current president: “They were looking for someone who was going to change the economy. They felt there were assaults on their health care and assaults on their pensions.”

Teachers unions should be banned from political activity.

Have there been a noticable drop in union membership yet?

When the mob turns on its leaders for not being revolutionary enough, that’s when the fun really begins. Save some popcorn for next year when they start pressuring him to make an endorsement.

Haven’t seen anything written on it yet, in WA they’ll lose members but don’t know the numbers.

Trumpka is being realistic. He knows which way the wind is blowing. Now watch someone point out how similar the names are, Trump & TrumpKA, as though that really proves anything.

From 2011 Labor Dept stats:

AFL-CIO Trumka $293,750

Randi Weingarten $493,859

These were salaries and perks only, no bonuses nor bennies.

At least Trumka's bucks come from his own fool union followers. Weingarten's come from we the people.

Teacher’s unions...

As anti American as it gets
As anti Trump as it gets
As anti Family as it gets
As anti Children as it gets

As for Trumka, this only confirms how utterly perplexed Trump has caused many on the Left and Right to be.

Trumka is not what you would expect to be a Trump supporter. Of course he hasn’t gone all in yet, and quite likely won’t. The interesting thing is, it isn’t in the bag yet. (if he’s telling the truth for the first time in his life)

As for the Right, many can’t grasp that Trump is an answer to their prayers.

Agreed...Trumka is between a rock and a hard place after what happened in the rust belt states, seems like he’s soft peddling right now.

.
It figures that the Teechurs union would be the hold-out!

They are the most radical anti-American org in existance.

They are dying too!

SCOTUS has ruled their mandatory membership contracts null and void.

Good riddance!
.

Someone should explain to her that the AFL-CIO is the granddaddy of all the other unions and hers is much less powerful and significant.
