I’m not even a Facebook user, and they’ve admitted tracking non-users; how much could I win from my bank if they sell my info to Facebook and they in turn have a data breach?

While online shopping certainly is a big thing, I always tell those around me to draw cash when they get paid and use that where possible. Not tin-foil stuff, mind you; I just see no point in exposing our personal info to some jackass making minimum wage in a gas station or restaurant. The general anonymity of our spending is just a bonus...

A Verizon tech person I spoke to once said she does this. Then she uses the cash to buy gift cards of Amazon, Verizon, Walmart, etc., for shopping. Her private banking info was compromised once and with gift cards she believes risk is minimized.
