Good call! I missed that. And I suspect you are correct.

Musk has also said on multiple occasions that Tesla will become profitable by the end of this year Zero chance of that happening, and he knows it.
His best bet to make money is to play with his Twiiter and say that he's "considering" doing things. Up 9% today.

Private shareholders have the same rights. They’ll be fewer in number, but have more clout.

Bingo. This looks like Step 1 of the ol’ pump-and-dump.

Trump proved to me that if you really want to be free and a business owner your business must remain private.

Why isn’t this guy being accused of stock manipulation with some of his tweets? SEC anyone?

...
You can short any stock that is marginable.
But why would you ask such a question about a company going private?

Easy Peasy, just pledge all the Public Shares as collateral.
...
How would that work?

When he goes public, does the government get all the money back we’ve given him over the years propping up his personal business?

IF he did this it sure looks like oumping and is having that effect. It should be SEC actionable.
If I could raise money any other way and were serious about running an efficient company I would NEVER go public. If I sold I’d try a private sale before I did an IPO. Why? Been there, done that. Didn’t like it.
I don’ care for Musk but have to give him his due for getting things done. He is a shameless self-promoter and in time I suspect a Bernie Madoff.

Trading in Tesla has been halted news pending.
To: Moonman62
Read it wrong. My bad.
Going private probably because it’s going to crash if the fed gov stops subsidizing it.
