Thank you, Trump, for making citizenship mean something once again.
Midwives lying is an old tradition. See Exodus 1.19.
Good!
USA has the right to check on any person’s citizen status history any time it’s wants to.
If a person doesn’t like that then they are not realizing the value of citizenship in this great country and how it should not be taken lightly.
Just because one grows up here believeing some thing they have been told and think their documents back it up doesn’t make it true. Look at liawatha, bhp, jmccain and many others all living decades in this country with fraudulent/shakey histories where born or their heritage.
If they aren’t legal Citizens...get the He** OUT!
About 2 years ago, we were in Miami getting same day passports for my kids (long story). There was a man and woman (of dubious citizenship themselves) trying to get a passport for their daughter who couldn’t have been more than a few days old. They claimed it was too early to have had the birth certificate issued, and the doctor was “on vacation” so couldn’t verify. The proof they offered was a facebook post announcing the birth. They got a passport.
:: The Trump administration is accusing ::
...because...uhhh...Trump’s fault....
I was involved in a ceremony on Corregidor Island a few years back celebrating an anniversary of its recapture. We invited a few veterans who had fought in the 503d Parachute Infantry Regiment during the retaking. One Hispanic veteran, Tony Sierra, who was born in the USA near the Mexican border in the 1920s had difficulty getting a passport. His original birth certificate was lost in a fire many years before. He had never had a need for it until the passport requirement. We got political intervention to get him the passport, so both he and his family could attend the ceremony.
It is not a hoax, as in it definitely is happening. I think it is great that scamming birth certificates is getting attention- it has been going on for years on the border. It is another part of overall immigration enforcement that is needed.
Of course the left will try to turn it into a sad story that makes Trump look bad. The thing is they try to do that with everything so it is what it is.
We need to solve this issue of scamming citizenship with bogus birth by taking away the automatic birthright citizenship for people that are citizens of another country. Since that came about from misinterpreting (on purpose) the Constitution it would take Congress or a tough judge to make changes to that. As long as we are giving citizenship for being born here we will have scamming.
It is not a fake story, it is part of immigration enforcement that needed to be addressed. People have been and are scamming for birth certificates, pretty common. Needs to be stopped.
Of course the left will use it as a sad story to make Trump look bad, but they do that with everything...
Yes scamming birth certificates has been an ongoing issue, needs enforcement. The real story here is this was ignored by previous administration- now being looked at again.
And it seems to me that a home birth, attended by a midwife —are they licensed or are they a good friend?—is questionable.
Could have given birth in Mexico and used the US address of a friend.
Exactly. Please see my previous post.
I don’t know about that, if obtained by fraud then no idea why it should stand. The thing is some of these people have a birth certificate showing they were born here, and another showing they were born in Mexico or other country.
People involved with illegal immigration and fraudulent documents will never vote for Trump or any other even halfway conservative to begin with. I know Rs have been telling us for years we have to keep quiet and pander for the hispanic vote. Truth is Hispanics that are legally here, and don’t want illegals here will vote conservative and those of the illegal variety will not-ever. Chasing that illusive Hispanic vote by not enforcing our immigration laws is what got us here.
Enforcing immigration laws and securing the border is a winning issue with enough people to win elections. Trump proved that, it is not some vague unknown.
Enforcing immigration law is not a losing issue, not by a long shot.
Most of them are well aware of it and use either when it suits them best. As Mexican citizens there is no restriction on property ownership or business issues in Mexico. Of course US citizenship is a gravy train.
My mother had to prove her birth, no certificate was found for her on file, she used witnesses, batismal records, medical records. I don’t really remember...it did take her a while but she had to do it.
This is the point; if there is a question about any of our documents, we must do what is asked of us to clear it up. This is really no different, it is only a big deal because some of them have scammed birth certificates.
I don’t have a copy of my birth certificate. I don’t know if I have to appear in person at the county clerk in the county I was born, (700 miles from me) or if it can be done on line. Anybody know?
It can be done by mail====I don’t know aabout on-line.
