Polish president proposes permanent US base called 'Fort Trump,' despite NATO restriction

President Trump's name appears on dozens of buildings worldwide, but if the leader of Poland has his way, properties like Trump Tower and Trump International Hotel may soon be joined by a conspicuously named military installation: Fort Trump.

Speaking with Trump and reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Poland's president, Andrzej Duda, told Trump that he'd like the U.S. to create a permanent military base with that name in Poland -- and that Poland would pay more than $2 billion for the project.

Duda emphasized that his country was "willing to make a very major contribution to the United States to come in and have a presence in Poland."

Trump said he would consider the proposal. Facing Russia's increased military activity in the region, Poland has been pressing for the 3,000 U.S. troops now deployed in Poland on a temporary, rotating basis to be upgraded to a larger, permanent presence

>>Top it off with hanging two really big brass balls over the main gate.<<

Man, that is a fantastic idea, and I hope our POTUS confirms the symbolization by approving it. It would be in photographs published by every news agency on the planet and cause the Leftists to go absolutely INSANE!

Be even better if the President announced plans to move all of our European bases to: Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria and, after a lengthy discussion with Salvini, decide to increase our footprint in Southern Italy to help them with their immigration problem. Strictly in an Advisory and Training role.

And Sekulovich.

I have no doubt that Poland would like the United States to establish and maintain a very large military presence in Poland forever. Poles want us to be physically there with our troops because of what happened to them in 1939 and then 1945 with what they consider to be dishonest negligence on the part of Great Britain and others, which caused intense suffering in Poland for 50 years under the Nazis and Soviets. I spoke with many Poles on the subject, lived and worked in Poland in the past, and spent many years living in a Polish area in Chicago, where I learned a little about the Polish language, culture and history.

"Do it and move every soldier out of Germany to Poland."

I agree to some extent about the multiple of troops stationed in now socialist Germany to Poland. However, the Germany Rhein-Main based hospital is THE main source for our injured troops for treatment after triage in country. Such a large an extensive hospital would have to be constructed in Poland. No small expense. Plus, it is further removed from our conflicts in the Middle East. More flight time.

Also, there is the huge Air Base with our aerial assets that we should maintain in central Europe. However, there are hundreds of grunts stationed there that could be re-assigned to Poland if they pay their share of relocation and infra-structure.

It would be a huge undertaking, but I would like to see less cooperation with Germany. Germany is going down with its insane immigration/asylum/refuge policies. It, along with others, are losing their cultures and their socialist leanings are destroying there nationalism. Poland has been steadfast about limiting such.

"Germany does not charge the U.S. for the bases that our Army uses in their country, and provides some money to offset the costs."

Germany doesn't charge the U.S because our military personnel provide them good part of their income.

US troops left Germany in 1923, and we were back a generation later.

Maybe we stick around so we don't have to go back all over again.

So instead of providing the good part of their income to Poland how about providing it to New York or Georgia or Colorado or Washington?

Actually its the Landstuhl Army Medical Center outside of Kaiserslautern that is the main US hospital in Europe.

Ramstien AFB, also at Kaiserslautern is the largest US airbase in Europe and maybe overseas. Rhien-Main is gone back to the Germans for use by the Frankfurt airport. So keep the presence around Kaiserslautern (Little America) and move the rest to Poland. That keeps a trip wire in Germany to ensure they behave with their neighbors.

Thanks for the correction. I haven't been keeping up our military in Germany. Was it never in Rhein-Main?

Not since my days there in the late 70s and late 80s, early 90s. I recall being there for a visit just before desert storm and seeing beds in the halls, every where getting ready for mass casualties. Its as modern and equipped as any hospital anywhere.
