While anti-border wall activists see a coming eco-apocalypse, some border-wall proponents already see one caused by unchecked illegal immigration.
The problems linked to illegal immigration have had much attention lately: the criminals and potential terrorists entering without permission, the young children needing care and workers taking jobs that Americans, in fact, would do.
Then there’s the burden on taxpayers for all the social services as well as the possibility that lax state laws let them vote.
Now a new one has begun getting attention: the millions of pounds of garbage left by those traveling through southwest America’s deserts illegally.
“Perhaps the state hardest hit by trash at the border is Arizona, which shares 370 miles of border with Mexico,” says a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies.
“Behind only the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, Tucson, Arizona, is consistently the sector of the border with the highest number of Border Patrol apprehensions,” the report explains.
“The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality estimates that over 2,000 tons of trash are discarded at the Arizona border every year. As a consequence, the department established a website entitled ‘Arizona Border Trash’ in 2012 to coordinate and keep track of the state’s trash cleanup operations. According to ADEQ, each ton of trash requires landfill fees of $37 to $49, which are footed by Arizona taxpayers. That does not include fees for materials, transportation, or labor. ADEQ further estimates that each border-crosser leaves an average of six to eight pounds of trash behind.”

There are major environmental issues associated with illegal immigration, like overcrowding pollution loss of habitat as populations have to expand into new areas in the protective areas in the habitat areas.
I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Third Worlders do not care one iota about the environment. They’ll cut down what they want to cut down and to hell with whether it’s a habitat or whatever to clear the whole damn lot to make room for the three or four generations That’ll live in the house on what used to be a pristine area

Another idea: like the former “chain gangs” or work gangs of convicted criminals that were such a great idea, and the youth juvenile offenders who pick up trash on sides of highways ( in only ONE city near me!)-—get the illegals to pick up trash instead of getting welfare,Medicaid,surgical coverage,EBT cards, Obamaphones and free housing in the U.S.
Workfare, not welfare.
Well, if we can’t send the illegals back to May-hee-co, at least we can send their trash back. There are some government buildings in May-hee-co City that would good with heaps of that trash on their front steps. If that seems harsh, consider that the flood of illegals is happening with the encouragement and assistance of their government.

Oh yes. When I went to AZ several years ago, I saw firsthand piles of trash and feces left behind by these fine upstanding NON citizens. They themselves are trash! We need more illiterate disease ridden unskilled hordes like this like we need ebola.

The trail of Trash exists all the way to the Pacific Northwest. There are plenty of home grown idiots that leave their garbage along side the road and other inappropriate places, but I have never seen it so bad. The culprits that I have witnessed in the last few years have mostly looked to be of the south of the border persuasion. Not scientific I know, but enough to lead to some pretty obvious conclusions.
My wife and I were eating at a buffet that has now gone out of business. We had gone there for many years. It had been a terrific place, but we stopped going there after the Mexican family in the booth next to ours changed their baby's dirty stinky diaper on the table next to us, and then left the diaper sitting on the table. We complained to management and they did nothing. They said that they couldn't be “racist”.
Catch them then put them to work cleaning up the trash they and others like them left behind. Put them to work on some kind of grinding machine to make to crap smaller then use an extension loader to dump it over on the Mexico side. No fees and free labor. Well; give ‘em a sammich and water for the days work.
