The centre-right Coalition Avenir Quebec is on track to win power for the first time in Canada's Quebec province, turning the page on nearly 15 years of liberal rule and allowing the party to make good on its promises to curb immigration. The business-friendly CAQ is expected to win a majority of seats in Canada's second most populous province, according to early results from Elections Quebec and network projections.
"My team and I are very eager to get to work for you," Legault said Monday night on Twitter.
The CAQ win would follow a shift to the right in Ontario, where Premier Doug Fords Progressive Conservative government swept to power in June, ending 15 years of Liberal rule in Canadas most populous province.

Where I trace my bloodline-—Quebec. (500 years ago, but who is counting)
RED WAVE!!!!!............................
So does half of Louisiana..................even if they aren’t Cajun!...............
Libs will be defeated.
The Canadians would do themselves good by moving to the Right.
Trump should call for Quebec independence. That would shake things up. Ontario would survive on it’s own but the rest of the nation would have no choice but to become part of the US. Talk about a real estate dealmaker!
Alberta would be nice, but would we really want the rest of Canada? They’ed be giving us extra Democrat Senators.
Right of Centre for Quebec is probably still the equivalent of Right of Centre in a Western European country—or a New England State.
Good. The French in Quebec know who they are. The French in France don’t. Quebec - keep yourself safe. Don’t follow trudeau.
The Cajuns have nothing to do with Quebec. They were French Acadians who lived in what are now the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The English expelled most of them in 1755 and following years, although there are still significant numbers in northern New Brunswick and a few areas of NS and PEI. These people were from a different part of France than those in Quebec. The Acadians who remain in this area speak a very different French dialect than the Quebecois, and have different cultural traditions.
This marks a major sea change for Quebec. Time is running out for Fidel Castro’s son.
Quebec independence. The western provinces of Canada become part of the USA. Return California to Mexico.
The Quebec Liberals are also center right. Quebec has two tiny leftist separatist parties.
Sovereignty is a dead force in Quebec politics.
Champlain founded Quebec in 1608. The French explorer Jacques Cartier was the first European to explore the region in 1534.
So, 500 years ago, if you had relatives living in what was later called Quebec, they would have been among the First nations people.
Most of the French that later settled in Quebec came from the western regions such as Brittany, Normandy, western Loire valley.
Maybe my math is off. LOL More like 400 years ago. I am NOT First Nation of that I am sure.
If Canada breaks up, maybe the Maritime Provinces can join with the New England states and form their won country, with Boston as its capital. We could then be rid of a dozen Democrat or RINO senators. The 10 state federation can be a social democratic nation on the European model, and liberals from the rest of the country can move there.
I’m creole. Got some ancestors who were kicked out of Quebec, some who were kicked out of Haiti, a lot who were taken from Africa...and one fool who moved from France to here on his own accord! :)
1789 was a good year for that....................
