Funny, I don’t see what % she is, isn’t that standard on these analyses? 1%, 2%, what’s the true number.

if it’s back 6-10 generations, it’s way less than 1%.

One ancestor, 6 to 10 generations back (which doesn’t strike me as very precise), would contribute between about 1.5% and about 0.1% of a person’s DNA.

Exactly. My dad has the same tiny percentage of AmerInd DNA, but never in a million years would he try to claim to be one to take advantage of a quota.

Liz Warren is WHITE. Any other claim by her is a lie, and she knows it.

Six generations is 1/64, about 1.4%. Ten generations is 1/1024, about 0.1%. I grew up near a reservation in Minnesota. There people had to prove they were 1/8 Indian (12.5%) to get reservation benefits.

They’re saying it’s anywhere from 1/32 to 1/540. In other words, none.

If the analysis is to be trusted, one ancestor, six to ten generations back, gives you somewhere between a few tenths of a percent and 1.6 %, depending on how far back.

Do you remember reading of the "one drop" test for blackness of the 19th century? This is like that, in reverse.

>> she had a Native American ancestor in her family dating back six to 10 generations.

Didn’t she say it was her grandmother or great grandmother?

6-10 generations?

no family lore talks about one sperm or egg donor from 10 generations ago. “you are part slave” “you are part indian” “you are part Jewish”

We all come from Africa.

"Funny, I don’t see what % she is,"

The article says 6-10 generations. Assuming normal - male female families & no 3 parent arrangements:

6 generations would be: 2^6 = 64, 1/64 = 1.6%

10 generations 2 ^ 10 = 1024, 1/1024 = 0.1%

6 generations would be 1.5%.

10 generations would be 0.000......!

The numbers I saw this morning said she might possibly be 1/512. That’s 0.00195%.

Oh they sent it to some specialist so he could say what genome was represented. He doesn’t say what tribe or what percentage. He does say 95^ and then the other five percent has stragglers most likely European plus one strand of some length that’s probably native

It’s a hot mess

1/512th native American.

0.001953125 percent.

Warren is using a minuscule amount of Native American DNA to claim she is Indian.

My dog probably has more Native American DNA that she does.

There is even .01%, which could be a false positive. I was originally .01% caucasus, then they changed the way they do things and my caucasus is gone.

I’m guessing way less than 1%.
Half the people in the US probably have more Native American DNA than she does, so definitely not relevant.

Rush Limbaugh was talking about it this morning and analysts put it at 1/1024 of her profile. Percentage wise that 0.0975% Native American DNA. It's negligible. It is not enough to qualify her to call herself an racial minority. The average European American has TWICE that percentage. . . or 0.195% Native American DNA.

One of my great great Grandmothers was Native American and that likely makes me 1/32nd to 1/16th Native American (why the uncertainty? Because my parents were both descended from her). . . but I don't have high cheekbones.
