When I was in the foreign service I was once told along with my foreign service class that you can ever say things that are illegal or in bad taste without harming your career and the Department.

At least we had people like you at one time. We need honesty and integrity and lots of it.

Rosenstein is trying to buy time.

Time needed to complete the ongoing investigations that are currently going on.

Rosenstein was flipped by Trump on Air Force One.

He can’t talk about any of this stuff while there are still ongoing investigations by Sessions in the DOJ.

Trump should release all the unredacted documents that Rod has been marking up the past year.

***************

That would be nice but after Trump’s reversal of his “immediate declassification” order the FISA docs were dumped onto Horowitz who is dutifully burying them. That was about one month ago. Does anyone seriously believe those documents couldn’t have been reviewed and released by now? It shouldn’t have taken any more than one week to release at least the small handful of FISA warrants.

I seriously doubt the American public will get to see them anytime in the near future, if ever. Some people don’t want us to see what went on.

This was a HUGE mistake by Trump. He let his mouth get ahead of what he was actually committed to doing. He fired up his base on phone texts and documents that should have been released already weeks ago. I’m with you, I’d be surprised if anything sees the light of day. He is the boss over this and this should have been the October surprise we were all hoping for. Crimes are being hidden from the public and the law and order President should donis a service and ensure these are released without delay

There’s only one reason Rosenstien could get away with being so evasive for so long: there’s something Trump knows that we don’t know.

Trump is doing nothing to hold RR or anyone in the DOJ accountable. He seems to want to act outraged and express his disappointment with them, but when it comes down to taking any action he always backs off.

That could be happening for one of two reasons: either they have him in some political corner where he wants to clean house, but he can’t - OR, he agrees with what they are doing and supports their decision to withhold certain information from bipartisan legislative committees, which will certainly be leaked to the press.

I am certain it is the latter.

You might ask - why then, would Trump play this game? Why act dissapointed and outraged if he really isn’t? Why not just say to the public that he fully supports the DOJ, and their need for secrecy?

Well, I think it’s because doing so would feed into the obstructionist narrative which his enemies are so eager to pin on him. As long as Trump acts like the DOJ has gone rogue, and is out of his control, he doesn’t appear to be part of a cover up. As long as Trump continues to publicly insist the DOJ release documents requested by Congress, he can cultivate his image as a “transparent” POTUS.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me. If Trump was really outraged and disappointed with his DOJ, and truly wanted the FISA documents released to the public - if his AG or DAG were really guilty of such gross insubordination - he would have fired them long ago and had his wishes carried out.

No one can tell me with a straight face that Trump is the kind of man who would tolerate this level of insubordination for all of these many months, cowering in fear because of political threats.

That’s preposterous - it’s just not who Trump is.

If Rosenstien is a no show next week, or if he shows up, but gives them absolutely nothing - I think it’s safe to assume Trump has Rosenstien’s back, and that it is Trump, not the deep state, who has decided the information should remain under wraps.

However, don’t be surprised if Trump uses Twitter to express outrage and dissappointnrnt over his DOJ. He needs to cultivate his image as a champion of transparency, even though we all know that at times, the best strategy is secrecy.

Thank you for the reply. I’ve been subject to a lot of nasty comments on FR for suggesting that Trump made a mistake with the FISA order. Some on the board think he is infallible.

In my opinion the FISA declassification issue was badly handled and needlessly damaged both his credibility and authority.

You can support someone but at the same time it doesn’t mean you have to agree with EVERYTHING they do. Like you, I see the FISA reversal as a huge disappointment. Adding insult to injury, Trump allowed Rosesnstein and our “allies” to pressure him into backing off on his presidential order. Why do these people get what they want, but we do not?

Whatever happened to America First? I hope Trump quickly releases the FISA docs. Many of his most ardent supporters are pleading with him to do that. But dumping the docs onto Horowitz appears to be just another stalling tactic.

To my mind there is absolutely no valid reason for delaying their release. The American people and the congress need to see exactly what went on and who was involved in subverting their president. I cannot think of anything more important to the country than knowing that.

I agree with you. I do think there is a strong possibility Trump made a deal with Rosenweasel. I think maybe RR saved his skin by delivering a fast and fair FBI report on Kavanaugh and make no mistake that is why we now have a new SC Justice.

Rotten Rod will be a no show again.

Bull. Why wouldn't he show? This is not sworn testimony. He can say whatever he wants without fear of legal jeopardy.

Why haven’t they subpoenaed him already?

Fools here ignoring the unappreciated reality of just how corrupt Rosenstein really is.

Appropriate gif. No democrat is ever charged as a result of ‘facing’ a Republican-led hearing, so what is the point?
