But this isn’t the first time a caravan has come north through Mexico. It doesn’t appear that Mexican give a damn as long as the people are just passing through and heading toward the Yankees.

Oh I bet it will. Most Mexicans are so poor and so beaten down by decades of oligarchy the idea of "their land" is a distant concept. For the vast majority of Mexicans, the "caravan" is a non-event, something beyond them which will pass by and they will only be hoping that the flood doesn't stop and nobody gets killed in their little town.
