Grassley refers Swetnick, Avenatti to Justice Dept. for investigation

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) announced Thursday that he is referring Julie Swetnick and her lawyer Michael Avenatti to the Justice Department for a potential criminal investigation into whether they made false statements to Congress about Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

"The law prohibits such false statements to Congress and obstruction of congressional committee investigations. For the law to work, we can’t just brush aside potential violations. I don’t take lightly making a referral of this nature, but ignoring this behavior will just invite more of it in the future," Grassley said in a statement.

Grassley added in a letter to Attorney General Jeff Session and FBI Director Christopher Wray that he was referring Swetnick and Avenatti for an investigation "for materially false statements they made to the Committee during the course of the Committee’s investigation."

Swetnick alleged in a sworn declaration released by Avenatti during Kavanaugh's confirmation process late last month that Kavanaugh was at a party where she was gang raped.

Become your own lawyer and you’ll have a fool for a client. Hire a shyster like Avenatti and you’ll have a DAMN fool for a clinet. What’s the difference between Avenatti and a rooster? The rooster clucks defiant...

The wall at DOJ, headed by Sessions, is stronger than what he have on our southern border. This is going nowhere.

This strikes me as a ‘Look! A shiny object!’ move. How about going after Blasey-Ford and all the people who used her as a patsy?

This may dampen Avenatti’s presidential aspirations

Shouldn’t Grassley have a much longer list of people to refer? Comey, McCabe, Brennar, Rosenweasel, etc

Looks like it ain’t over.

Good. I hate to be this way, but the only thing these people understand is utter, complete destruction.

See tagline.

He likely does. This could be the ice-breaker to see who within the Dept can be entrusted to aggressively handle such actions. There will be a lot of people watching, including the Dept's not-yet-appointed new boss.

Haven’t you learned by now that you never get all you want and you never get it as soon as you want it?

There was no hurry here and are much more important fish to fry at this time.

Hopefully, this is a build-up to investigate Perfesser Fraud after the elections. How many were involved in that conspiracy? Ten? Twenty?

Sessions will “retire” after the mid-terms.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m pretty sure he will announce his “retirement” about an hour after the polls close on November 6.
President Trump will be cleaning house the minute the election is over.
