PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police from across the city of Pittsburgh are responding to an active shooting situation at the The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill.
KDKA’s Andy Sheehan reports that at least four people have been confirmed dead, possibly as many as 7 to 8 could be dead.
Police have requested that residents stay inside their home as they have exchanged gun fire with a suspected gunman.
When officers arrived the gunman reportedly shot at them, forcing officers to use their vehicles as a shield.
Two police officers were reportedly shot.
The Synagogue was reportedly full of people for a Saturday service and police say they’ve received several calls from people barricaded inside the Synagogue.
Several people have been rescued, but police are still trying to rescue others.
Nearby Carnegie Mellon University was also reportedly on lockdown, students receiving texts telling them to stay inside.
Mayor Bill Peduto is rushing to the scene.

When We went to a different Church for Christmas Eve Late Service here in NC I went prepared with the 1911 loaded with a full Mag and a round chambered plus 6 spare Mags for a total of 50 rounds just incase. I was happy to see a local City Officer dressed out in Uniform standing in the foyer. I was unsure if there was going to be any Security there so I came prepared.
It’s been my experience that hard core atheist leftists who want to try and capture some the “moral high ground” that publicly professing a religious belief offers. They will often claim to be not religious but “spiritual”. If they think thats not making persuasive case they want. They’ll then claim to be Buddhist, because:
a) Very few people know anything about it including them,
b) It’s supposedly nonjudgmental & vaguely pacifist (If we ignore many Asian martial arts!),
c) They think it captures the “moral & intellectual high ground” that leftists think it’s their right to occupy.
