Christie, Acosta And Bondi Top Trump’s List To Replace Sessions
Mr Top Step ^ | 11-9-2018

As acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker’s refusal to recuse himself from overseeing the Mueller probe rattles Democrats and even Kellyanne Conway’s husband – all of whom worry that President Trump may finally have found a way to force an ending to the interminable investigation – the shortlist for Jeff Sessions’ replacement is growing longer.

According to multiple media reports, Trump is considering no fewer than seven people for the job: Chris Christie, Rudy Giuliani, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Labor Secretary Alex (not Jim) Acosta, HHS Secretary Alex Azar, US Appeals Court Judge Edith Jones and former Attorney General William Barr, who held the job under President George W Bush.

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham has also been rumored as a top pick, and is far and away the leading candidate on online betting markets, though his name has been largely absent from media reports.

To that list, some would add Whitaker, who has remained a favorite to remain in the job permanently despite being a politically contentious pick. But according to Bloomberg, members of the GOP’s senate leadership are pushing for Acosta, seeing him as more likely to win confirmation given that he has already been vetted and has a more compelling life story. Acosta, the son of Cuban refugees, went to Harvard for undergrad and law school before clerking for the Supreme Court.

Causing no end of frustration for Democratic leaders, Whitaker has so far refused to recuse himself from overseeing the Mueller probe, despite his public criticism of Mueller’s probe as illegal and a “witch hunt.” And sources close to Whitaker say he has no intention of doing so (and why would he, considering that would almost certainly sink any chance he has of staying in the job).

“I am both devastated and deeply troubled that young Trayvon Martin lost his life in a shooting

Just a guess on my part but maybe the little thug should not have sat on a guy and mashed his head into the concrete and say he was going to kill him. Again, just a guess.

Bondi can’t even investigate FLA Ballot manufacturing.
She is gutless. No to Bondi.
No to Christie too.

Christie would have all hell to pay trying to get confirmed given the bridgegate matter. He and Trump seem to have had a falling out sometime ago so not sure he is really in the running anyway. Rudy is too old and no way he can go from defending Trump to being AG, too much baggage. Bondi is intriguing as she has supported Trump down the line from what I gather. No loss as she is out of office soon but I am not sure if she is a strong 2A type

Whatever, just don't get another senator, we cannot stand the loss.

I understand Acosta has already removed his name from consideration. It can’t be Christie because if Sessions recused himself because he was part of the campaign then how can Christie not do so as well? I’d put money on Bondi. She’s loyal. Her term as Florida AG is up. She’s a woman and the cabinet is short of women.

I'm sure President Trump knew exactly who he was going to nominate BEFORE he requested Session's resignation.

Be Patient.

That involvement with the campaign would make it harder for Giuliani or Christi so far as the media is concerned.

Keep Whitaker and if he turns out to be all smoke and mirrors, then dump him. So far, I like what I see and hear.

These names are the Media's "Bone For the Day".

How I love the President.

Some of these names are preposterous.

Rudy Giuliani is way past his prime and will be facing endless complaints about conflicts of interest (he's Trump's personal attorney right now).

Chris Christie will be less trustworthy than Jeff Sessions -- and far more dangerous. He's an establishment Republican and a Bush guy, and you can be pretty much assured that Mitt Romney will be working through him to undermine Trump.

The rest of these are political hacks with no compelling attributes that would make them fit to work for President Trump. If you're going to name someone like Acosta or Azar to this role, you might as well have left Jeff Sessions there.

Gowdy

No Swampers. None. They’ve proved they cannot be trusted.
Pick someone from the outside who’s 100% behind Trump and 100% in favor of bringing the concept of JUSTICE back to our country - which means put these leftist criminals behind bars once and for all instead of spending two frigging years doing absolutely nothing, like that useless piece of human excrement called “Jeff Sessions.”

Giuliani has managed the Mueller affair pretty well. He’s a fighter. I wouldn’t mind having him as AG. Trump could go in your face with his pick. I don’t think he has a politically correct bone in his body

I don’t think Whitaker can be nominated because he was seated under the Vacancies Act.

If this is true, then it is just one more element of the Vacancies Act that is clearly unconstitutional. The President of the United States cannot be constrained by statute from making a nomination that he's empowered to make under the U.S. Constitution.

But, but it wasn’t Travon’s fault. Zimmerman violated the Safari law. He did not stay in the car as required. Remember, when you see black teenagers, do not look at them, never open the door or roll down the window. And, especially do not get out of the car. Never exit the car. It is incumbent on everyone to keep driving and look straight ahead. If you deviate, whatever happens the black teens are always the victims. These teens are unable to not attack you, and if you die it is your fault for forcing them to kill you. They are always the victims here. CNN and ABC confirmed this law many times after Obama’s if he had a son simply reacted as mandated due to his nature. Shame on Zimmerman for being so disrespectful in getting out of the car.
