Her other kids were thrilled when she brought 8lbs 4oz newborn baby Bonnie back to the family's ten-bedroom converted care home

Sue, 43, welcomed Bonnie Raye into her king-sized clan after a 12-minute labour.

She said: “I thought I’d need more than gas and air but there wasn’t any time.” Her other kids were thrilled when she brought 8lb 4oz Bonnie back to the family’s ten-bedroom converted care home in Morecambe, Lancs.

Sue said: “They were all fighting over the first cuddle. It’s such a lovely moment when you bring a newborn home and the others are all lined up ready to hold her.” Her baker husband Noel, 47, said: “I don’t think anyone sets out thinking they’ll have 21 children. We thought we’d have three."

Even people who are “autism spectrum” are more engaged with people when they have lots of siblings, because they just have to be.

The couple, who support themselves with their bakery and claim only child benefit, had their first baby when Sue was just 14.

Blessings to the family.

But... I'm wondering...

Would everyone here be so supportive if this were an American couple - under the same circumstances, same number of children - collecting gov't benefits to supplement their income?

And St. Catherine of Siena (a Doctor of the Church and reformer of unsatisfactory popes) was her parents' 22nd child. I just read her bio by Sigrid Undset. It's a mind-blowing story.

And while she's on my mind: St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us.

Don't know if this actually happened but:

I read once that during one of Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life" episodes he interviewed a guy who told Groucho that he and his wife had 9 kids.On hearing that Groucho's face lit up as it so often did.He said to the guy,in amazement,"9 kids???" to which the contestant replied "well,I love my wife".

Being the perfect setup for Grouch,he replied "well,I love my cigar too but sometimes I take it out!"

You know I love you bankwalker

But she got ya

I’m something of an expert to be honest

Having babies hasn’t hurt any of that plumbing in my experience

The ahem largest gal I ever knew was a very fit ballet troupe gal with no kids which defies type and frankly shocked me

It’s genetics I guess

I’m no bankwalker admittedly so I’m grateful regardless

Yoga seems to strengthen pelvic floor muscles

It does for my rib

Child bearing is hard on a girl especially episiotomies with laagerhead male off spring

But girls bounce back if they watch their weight etc

TC

Bankwalker is coincidentally slang especially in Dixie for the endowed guy who likes to walk the bank when everyone is skinny dipping

God bless moms

We need more kids like us

Out of curiosity, I googled the “child benefit“ that they get from the British government. As far as I can tell it works out to roughly $16,000 per year.

My husband is one of nine, like in your family the youngest sibling is 30. There are 37 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren so far.

A couple of years ago they had a Thanksgiving celebration to which everyone came, even from out of state. There were around 70 people there. So thankful that everyone was able to make it as it was probably the last time.

...but her mother, Mary White, must have had remarkable stamina.

Not to mention a remarkable uterus!

I fear that this remark will finally get me banned from FR!

Oh, I doubt it. Going on as if reproduction is somehow shocking is not at all uncommon.

In Britain, the “child benefit” is paid on every child, regardless of the parents’ income. I don’t think people have an obligation to avoid having children just because the government will give them a payment if they do. That way lies a society where nobody has children except socialists.

I got lotsa big on me, boss.

Happy to say I avoided the forceps though.

Much more common in the South, so I hear.
