When you vote by mail like we do in Oregon, there are no provisional ballots and no same day registration.
Although motor voter seems ripe for registering illegals, Oregon does give undocumented persons licenses. You have to provide a certified birth cert to get a license for citizens and legal residents have to present their passport and visa.
Since the ballots dribble in over two weeks, the elections office has time to validate the signatures and get them trayed up for counting at the end of election day. The envelopes aren’t opened till then.
The outer envelopes are barcoded next to the signature and they are scanned in, signature checked and marked as received. You can check online to confirm receipt of your ballot.
This makes it all that much harder to slip fraudulent ballots into the vote count.
I truly believe voting at numerous polling places just introduces to damn many ballot handlers and dark corners for nefarious activities to be a viable system anymore.
The crap that takes place during actual counting can be addressed by lawyers, cameras and citizen watchdog groups.
I personally think ballot counting should be done with live webcam broadcasting at all times.
once that little inside yellow envelope is opened, and dropped into the ballot box, there is no going back...no checking it....and I do not believe for one minute that much checking of signature goes on let alone seeing if that ballot comes from a legal voter.......basically they’re assuming its a legal voter....
That is why Brenda Snipes worked to kick out people who wanted to watch the counting like officials who knew what to look for.
"We need to count every single vote" actually means "count the shit box."
When you vote by mail, how do you know ‘who’ filled in the ballot?
You can't go out into the deep woods anywhere any more without wondering if you're being videotaped.
WHy should this most important of activities be exempt?
